THESE ARE THE CHAMPIONSSSSSSS!!!
Holy cow do I love this tournament! Honestly, I want College Football to break off from the NCAA and create this with the Power 5 conferences. No more games against East West State Tech. Just nothing but Ohio State v Clemson. Bama v USC. How fun would that be every week? Well, welcome to the Champions League.
For those who are new around here, and there are quite a few, welcome. We smash Champions League and nothing changes this year. I don’t know if it’s because there are more goals scored in UCL slates and they are hard to find for other players or what, but we always come out good on the other end.
For the Champions League, each team will play the other three teams in their group, home and away. The top two teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage. Home games are near musts to pick up points. An early bad result is not a death sentence. The big boys tend to eat.
To the groups…
For those curious, I put together a thread immediately after the groups were announced to pick the winners and runners’ up:
If you don’t want to go through, fine…I’ll post them here. Just go give me a follow anyways.
PREDICTED GROUP RESULTS
- REAL MADRID
- BAYERN MUNICH
- MANCHESTER CITY
- ATLETICO MADRID
- INTER MILAN
OK, so now that you’ve bet those and made a million dollars, let’s get down to the Tuesday Slate. There are two slates on DK. There is a two-game early slate that is available but we’ll stick to the six-game main slate for this article. There is plenty to discuss! Games will kick off at 3pm EST.
-Ajax -220 2.5 (-145o/+120u)
-Benfica +165 2.5 (-130o/+105)
RB Leipzig +165
-B Dortmund +220 3 (-130o/+110u)
-Chelsea -125 2.5 (-120o/EVENu)
-Red Bull Salzburg -190 3 (-130o/+110u)
-Napoli +210 3 (+115o/-140u)
Ajax are the biggest favorites on the board and at home.
Salzburg are the second biggest favorite but have the highest game and implied goal total.
Lille are sneaky good for being the biggest dog on the slate.
Napoli/Liverpool is a game that could have fireworks or be a complete stalemate as Ancelotti tries to salvage a point from GW 1 in the tournament.
Chelsea have been a swashbuckling attacking team in the Prem. I see no reason why it should stop in the Champs League.

It’s still quite early in the season for most of these teams. Competition level is important to keep in mind. You look at a club like Salzburg that’s scored 34 goals in seven wins in their domestic competition and you think, “GIVE ME SOME OF THAT!” Well, yes, they are a home favorite so we’ll examine the options, but let’s not go overboard.
Is dominating the Austrian Football League better than sitting in 13th place in the Spanish Primera Division? We’ll find out later in the comp but for now, let’s look at which players we’ll be targeting for Tuesday’s Main slate of games.
- Haaland – RBS – $4.3k
This is such a fuck on DK’s part. Huge favorite at home in a high total with a forward who just scored four goals in one game on the weekend. Sooo, yeah. Just put him in.
- Abraham – CHE – $7.7k
Booooiiiiinnnnnggggg. Yep, we are doing boners here, boys. He bagged us three goals on the weekend and they are home favorites again. Valencia are giving up goals. I love the total. Under $8k? Yes!
- Tadic – AJA – $9.3k
On penalty duty which is why his freaking price is so high. He’s OK and you might have the money considering the value available. They are the biggest favorite on the board but Lille are going to be tough. However, it seems Ajax get at least one freaking pen a game.
- Pedro – CHE – $6k
I don’t really love Pedro but he’s a busy bee and a coach’s pet who seems to get game time in important situations. He’ll get the chance and find good areas to damage this Valencia team in shambles.
- Fati – BAR – $5.8k
I’m tempted to take a chance on the 16-year-old Fati at $5.8k, but that is strictly a GPP play. It’d be a tough environment for his first UCL game. He does have slight set piece equity.
- Poulsen – RBL $4.7k
This guy is a giant. Literally, like 6’5”, and when he starts, they just lob balls to his head. I thought he’d be at least $6k so this feels like great value if he starts.
- Zivkovic – BEN – $4.7k
This guy has made us some money in the past. Oddly, he doesn’t start as often as he should. When he does, he’s a shifty winger who gets crosses and shots off.
- Griezmann – BAR – $8.9k
If this game shoots out – and it could happen – we need pieces from this BAR attack. Griez won’t be phased and will be heavily involved in all attacking actions. He’s yet to really go off but under $9k is very fine.
- Mane – LIV – $8.6k
I’m not playing Salah for this salary on the road in Italy. If I’m taking any piece of the Liverpool attack, it’s going to be the in-form man. Mane grabbed two more goals this weekend, and at under $9k, he’ll be a way to differentiate up top.
- Messi – BAR – $11.1k
If he plays, he’s in consideration, but this is a ton of salary. Prob a fade but he won’t even start.
- Ziyech – AJA – $10.4k
Plug and Play. He might be 100% owned in cash. I guess you can just fade and hope in GPP but I’m not even doing that on my teams. I will have 100% Ziyech.
- Mount – CHE – $7.4k
Wass is playing RB and is not a RB…like at all. Fati tore him a new asshole this weekend and, while special, the kid is 16. Mount is what? 18. So two extra years of experience!! In truth, if I’m only grabbing one piece of Chelsea, this is the piece I want. Even more than Tammy. Even with Willian on the field, Mount was grabbing some set pieces. I like his confidence at the moment. Great matchup for a reasonable price.
- Pizzi – BEN – $6.5k
Does it all for Benfica. He was playing more of a true Center Mid last year where he would sit deep and be a playmaker. Now he’s further forward and taking penalties as well. If I was higher on Benfica, he’d be a lock, but I’m not quite sure how that game is going to shake out. Cautiously optimistic.
- Junuzovic – RBS – $5.6k
Their pricing is so jacked up. Another player who I suspect will be highly owned in cash. He should be. Set pieces on a home favorite. Great to pair with Haaland.
- Van de Beek – AJA – $6.9k
GPP goal under $7k. This is the spot from Midfield that can fill that role. He does not have enough of a floor to fit cash, and he does blow opportunities, but for a big home favorite, you can do worse. GPP.
- Sancho – BVB – $6.6k
I think the hype is a little strong on this kid, but, honestly, he just produces. He has an assist in every single game this year. It’s a tough matchup against Barcelona but you have to assume that at home Dortmond will attack, right? GPP. Not cash.
- De Jong – BAR – $4.1k
He’s been amongst the goals of late which is rare for him and his positioning. In truth, he’s someone who will get more advanced when his teams have more of the ball. I don’t necessarily see that as the case in this game.
- Yazici – LIL – $3.5k
Even cheaper than de Jong…The set piece taker for the biggest dog on the slate. How many will they have? If you need to get down here, he’s the best of the bunch.
- Alonso – CHE – $5k
IF they go with the three CBs and he gets to play the wing back role he excels in then I love this play.
- Halstenberg – RBL – $3.6k
Usually a price for a throw away fullback but this guy is a stud. Does have slight set piece equity but I like him for his open play value as well. A full German nation team member who just made us some cash in the INTL slot.
- Klostermann – RBL – $2.9k
The guy on the other side of the field. I don’t know that you need to go all the way down here because the pay ups aren’t that amazing, but if you do, just roster both and roll.
- Grimaldo – BEN – $4.8k
Set pieces. Solid. Just makes us money every slate.
- Farkas – RBS – $4.6k
He’s in the player pool, but not someone i’m going to roster. Just FYI
- Alexander-Arnold – LIV – $6k
For all the reasons you know, he has to be listed. The matchup is very tough and Napoli at home in the first game of UCL will not change that. Perhaps a way to differentiate in GPPs. His ownership will be low.
- Tagliafico – AJA – $5.2k
Should in theory have the best matchup but I think the odds are a little off and would rather have Ziyech/Tadic from Ajax.
- Arrizabalaga – CHE – $5.3k
The worry here is that Chelsea can’t keep a clean sheet against their own U12 team, let alone a UCL opponent, but at home, against a team in absolute turmoil, would be a hell of a place to start.
- Stankovic – RBS – $5.5k
They should win the game. At home. Lot to like.
- Vlachodimos – BEN – $4.7k
My fav under $5k. Again, I don’t have a great feel for the flow of this game but BEN always keeps these games tight and low scoring. Decent shot at a W/CS.
