What’s up Mafia, welcome to The MLB Early Bird…
This article will focus exclusively on DraftKings and FanDuel Early Slates. It will be written to hopefully draw out some factors for CASH and GPP players on each slate. I will update as news breaks after 11am each day. Now, let’s get started!
UPDATES: CWS/DET PPD. We have a Mets starter; Chris Flexen, RHP. Matt Carpenter is dirt cheap on both sites and with FD down to 3 games, it's hard to pass on him on that EARLY slate.
DK updates: Berrios is my #1 P overall. He's holding RHHs to a .279wOBA and really only Chris Davis has had success against him. For the BVP lovers: Krush Davis and Piscotty have 2 homers each off Shoemaker. Shoemaker has been a solid pitcher so far, but if you love BVP, I dont mind it. Twins bats stack is my top stack on the full slate. Schoop and Cruz revenge. Straily doesnt scare anyone and with high winds out to LF, balls will be flying. Also fine with Jorge Polanco who owns a .367 ISO against RHPs. Pirates bats get to face a pitcher that should be attacked with RHHs. However, Pittsburgh should be without Marte and this season rank DEAD last against LHP with a 0.70 ISO, GROSS! Finally, lefties in Cleveland. With Teheran on the mound, who has been horrible against LHHs, MAYBE this the day Jose Ramirez can get it going since Lindor is expected back to take the pressue off Ramirez. Best of luck!

Kansas City at New York (AL)
- Starters: Fillmyer v Tanaka
- Game Time Temp: 62 degrees, 53% chance of rain, 15 MPH winds across.
- Vegas: : NYY -222
K Street: Fillmyer hasn’t allowed a homer so far but is in hitter’s park this afternoon. Last season, he allowed 1.95HR/9, All but one homer came off his four-seamer last year. The Yankees have 21.7% strike out rate against RHPs. Also, Tanaka has a similar matchup since the Royals have a 21% strikeout rate. He is striking out RHHs more at 9.45 K/9.
Power Alley: Starting with a BVP play, Lucas Duda has 2 homers and a .805wOBA against Tanaka. Duda is hitting flyballs 68% of the time. Hunter Dozier is 2ndon the team with 42% hard-hit% against RHPs. Dozier is the bat I’d use as a one-off or mini stack with Duda. Tanaka is allowing 47% hard contact to RHHs and 1.35HR/9. Also, he throws a slider 36% of the time and Dozier has a .636 wOBA against that pitch type. For the Yankees, with Fillmyer being primarily a fastball pitcher, Gleyber Torres as a .381 ISO against the pitch. Torres has the highest hard-hit% in the lineup at 50%.
New York (NL) St. Louis
- Starters: TBD v Mikolas
- Game Time Temp: 63 degrees with 16 mph winds across field.
- Vegas: TBD
K Street: No Mets pitcher currently. Mikolas has regressed from last year. He’s has not had more than 3 strikeouts in a game. This Mets team has a 23%K rate. Last season, it was the LHHs that got to him and he allowed 12 homers. The Mets have a few power bats that Mikolas will have to navigate through.
Power Alley: Cardinals bats will be updated once a starter is named. The big bat has been Peter Alonso, another player that homered last night. Alonso has put his mark already this season. Robinson Cano is really smashing the ball at a 54% hard-hit% and over 40% flyball rate. Both bats have homer potential.
Arizona at Chicago (NL)
- Starters: Greinke v Darvish
- Game Time Temp: 53 degrees and 18 MPH in from LF.
- Vegas: CHC -130
K Street: Greinke has allowed 8 homers but has 28 strikeouts so far in 4 starts. Somehow, Greinke hasn’t faced any Cubs in the projected lineup. He’s been hit harder by RHHs and he has the highest HR/9 at 3.09 this season. Darvish on the other hand has the highest BB% in MLB and the Dbacks are tied for 5thin steals.
Power Alley: I am big fan of Christian Walker so far and he’s in play with that 67% hard-hit%. Also the bat that pops out is David Peralta. He has a 55% hard-hit and smashes all of Darvish’s pitch types. He’s the highest on the team in each. Both bats again have upside. Willson Contreras has a .619 ISO and a 50% hard-hit% against RHPs the 2 weeks. He profiles great against Greinke’s pitch types.
