Top Stacks Of The Night
EDM PP 1: Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Tyson Barrie
Possible Add-On: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Who said we can’t stack guys that are projected not to play on the same line? I’m getting creative tonight and making my main stack a Barrie (a defenseman), McDavid (1st liner), and Draisaitl (2nd liner). McDavid is four points away from 100 and I wouldn’t be the least surprised if he hit that mark tonight. He’s recorded four points against the Canucks once this season and at least two points in five of his eight meetings against them. Vancouver’s penalty kill is nothing to brag about and these guys will all see time together on the man advantage. Plus, regardless on which line McDavid and Draisaitl are projected to play on, they’ll always receive even strength minutes together.
Note: Matthews’ line is in play, of course. I won’t dedicate an entire section to them because by now you know that Matthews and Marner are in play when on home ice. Tonight there is no exception to that rule.
SJ 1: Alexander Barabanov, Tomas Hertl, Evander Kane
Possible Add-On: Brent Burns
Yes, I’m going back to San Jose’s top line for this one. It may have not absolutely destroyed Arizona last night, but Kane and company looked great on the ice yesterday. This trio sported a 55 CF% and was able to record an even strength goal. I’m hopeful that Kane records six shots on goal again tonight but at least one of those converts into a goal this time around.
WSH: Anthony Mantha, Nicklas Backstrom, Daniel Sprong
Possible Add-On: John Carlson
If Ovechkin is out once again, I’m looking at this line. In 15 minutes of action last night against Philly, it looked really sharp out there. It was cycling the puck extremely well, recorded an even-strength goal, and had an impressive 59.26 CF%. I’m expecting more of the same from this line, considering it will be put in the same situation. It’s also because Phillidelphia has struggled when playing on zero days of rest, as it’s allowed 3.52 goals per game.
NYI 2: Josh Bailey, Anthony Beauvillier, Brock Nelson
Possible Add-On: Adam Pelech
Last Saturday, this cheap stack came through for us, and out of respect, I feel like I need to go back to them. The Islanders are facing the Devils this evening which presents them with a favorable matchup. New Jersey is boasting a 41.78 CF% to go along with an 18.24 xGA (highest in NHL) in their last eight games. Beauvillier is riding a five-game point streak and you have to like his chances to record another point against a team that’s struggled defensively all year long.
