Top Stacks Of The Night
TOR 1: Auston Matthews, Mitchell Marner, Zach Hyman
Possible Add-On: Morgan Rielly
I know, I know. Matthews, Marner and Hyman didn’t record a point in Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens. For some reason, that will prevent people from rostering them in their lineups. I just want to come out and say not to be that person. This line was sensational Game 1. It boasted a 75 CF% and recorded 13 even-strength shots on goal and four shots on goal on the man advantage. I truly believe one of their shots will find the back of the net, especially if they play anywhere near the level they did in Game 1. This line should see very similar matchups to what they did their last time out.
PIT 1: Jake Guentzel, Bryan Rust, Sidney Crosby
Possible Add-On: Kris Letang
Whether you’re a Montreal fan or don’t like the ‘Leafs, another expensive stack that I like today is Pittsburgh’s top line. This line is boasting a 56.10 CF% this series and the Islanders haven’t had the best goaltending play this series, allowing 3.33 goals per game. I honestly prefer Toronto’s top line for the price, but this is a nice way to get contrarian while still having upside.
VGK 2 : Jonathan Marchessault, William Karlsson, Reilly Smith
Possible Add-On: Shea Theodore
For some late-night action, I don’t think you can go wrong with Vegas’ second line. Smith and company are averaging an even-strength goal per game this series and are sporting a 59.02 CF%. All three guys also see time on the same power play unit, and that is huge in the playoffs where goals are harder to find in 5v5 action. These guys are priced right and have looked excellent in this series.
NYI 1: Oliver Wahlstrom, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Kyle Palmieri
Possible Add-On: Scott Mayfield
The Penguins are coming into this contest with a 6.71 xGA in the first round, which ranks 2nd-highest in the NHL. They have not gotten great goalie play this series and I’m expecting for the Islanders to take advantage, especially since they’ll be playing on home ice. I know we’re looking to target some expensive lines today, so I’m looking at Palmieri and company for some savingS. They all receive power play and have combined for two even-strength goals in three games this series. you have to like his chances to record another point against a team that’s struggled defensively all year long.
Note: Florida-Tampa Bay isn’t included in the main slate, but just know I like the idea of getting exposure to this game if you’re doing any mini mode or all-day slate. I like Huberdeau’s line and Tampa Bay’s top power play unit.
