Top Stacks Of The Night
COL 1: Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen
Possible Add-On: Cale Makar
MacKinnon and his linemates are on an absolute heater right now and it’s hard to ignore them tonight. They’ve combined for 26 points in their last six and are going up against the Ducks which is a team they’ve dominated this season. This stack is expensive and it may be difficult to fit all three guys into a lineup but I believe they’re worth the price. Besides their skillset, the Ducks are boasting a 45.21 CF% in its last six which should provide Colorado’s top line with plenty of opportunities to put the biscuit in the basket.
WAS 1: Alex Ovechkin, Lars Eller, T.J. Oshie
Possible Add-On: John Carlson
Washington has logged 21 goals and is 5-0 vs. Buffalo this season. It’s hard not to like Washington in this matchup, especially since Buffalo is without Taylor Hall once again. Plus, the Sabres has allowed 3.65 goals per game when playing on zero days of rest. Ovechkin has recorded a point in each game he’s played against the Sabres, making him an appealing expensive option this evening. He’s expected to play with Oshie and Eller. Although Oshie and Ovechkin haven’t spent much time with Eller this season, we know the type of damage they can do. Eller just makes this stack more affordable due to his cheap price tag.
VGK 2: Reilly Smith, William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault
Possible Add-On: Shea Theodore
If I’m looking to spend up on Colorado’s top line this evening, I need some savings which is where Vegas’ second line comes in. Vegas should see plenty of opportunities to put points on the board as it’s going up against Arizona. In its last seven contests, Arizona is sporting a 14.31 xGA (8th-highest in NHL) and 47.97 CF%. Marchessault has averaged 4.6 shots on goal in his last five with only one goal. I’m expecting for tonight to be the night he has a little luck on his side.
SJ 2: Timo Meier, Tomas Hertl, Rudolfs Balcers
Possible Add-On: Erik Karlsson
This line has truly impressed me. In 123 minutes, it’s boasting a 58.12 CF% and has recorded 6 even strength goals. Balcers has been the perfect fit for Meier and Hertl and I’m expecting for this line to continue rolling this evening. Los Angeles has struggled against San Jose in recent years and is 1-4-1 against the Sharks this season. I expect for San Jose to record another win this evening and this second line being a big reason why. L.A. has allowed 3.50 goals in its last four contests and is boasting the 7th-highest xGA over the last two weeks.
