Only single game Showdown slates for the remainder of the NHL DFS season. We’ve got your backs, though, with a daily breakdown of all the top plays and lineup building strategy.
First of all, I want to revisit Strategy Session #21 – DraftKings Showdown Rules.
I’ve gone back and updated all of my rules. Only one was nixed, so six remain:
Rule #1 – No defensemen at CAPT (87.7% of optimals)
Rule #2 – Use a max of 1 goalie (86.2% of optimals)
Rule #3 – Set a minimum salary of $43,000 (86.2% of optimals)
Rule #4 – Remove third and fourth line forwards from CAPT pool (84.4% of optimals)
Rule #5 – Do not use any full-line stacks (95.4% of optimals)
Rule #6 – Use a max of 2 players from opposing team when using a goalie CAPT, and max 3 players from opposing team when using a UTIL goalie. (~92.8% of optimals)
Now on to today’s game!
Tampa Bay Lightning @ New York Islanders, Game Three
- 8:00 pm EST
- Implied Odds: Tampa Bay 57% | Total: 5.0
The Lightning are trying to close things out and join Dallas in the Cup Finals. They’ve outscored the Islanders 17-9 thus far, and get the “home ice advantage” tonight. I think the Isles are going to be headed back home after tonight.
Once again, Point and Kucherov are clearly the top options for DFS purposes.
Gourde and Coleman are my favorite lower-owned pairing. Gourde has 2 goals and 3 assists in four games this series. These guys are playing incredible hockey at the moment.
I still have a lot of interest in the Islanders second-liners. Any pairing of Beauvillier, Nelson, and Bailey makes for a nice GPP mini-stack.
Hedman will of course get some CAPT consideration from me. There are a few guys I like as cheap lineup fillers, too: Sergachev, Bogosian, and McDonagh.
For the Isles, only FLEX options here. Pulock tops that list, but I also like Scott Mayfield’s shot blocking upside.
I think you have to have some goalie exposure depending on which way your lineup leans. I wouldn’t force CAPT exposure if only playing a few lineups, as there is too much upside for the skaters, and not enough for these two goaltenders.
