The Stanley Cup Finals continue tonight in Edmonton. Here’s your complete DFS Showdown breakdown for Game Five!
First of all, I want to revisit Strategy Session #21 – DraftKings Showdown Rules.
I’ve gone back and updated all of my rules. Only one was nixed, so six remain:
Rule #1 – No defensemen at CAPT (87.7% of optimals)
Rule #2 – Use a max of 1 goalie (86.2% of optimals)
Rule #3 – Set a minimum salary of $43,000 (86.2% of optimals)
Rule #4 – Remove third and fourth line forwards from CAPT pool (84.4% of optimals)
Rule #5 – Do not use any full-line stacks (95.4% of optimals)
Rule #6 – Use a max of 2 players from opposing team when using a goalie CAPT, and max 3 players from opposing team when using a UTIL goalie. (~92.8% of optimals)
Now on to today’s game!
Dallas Stars @ Tampa Bay Lightning, Game Five
- 8:00 pm EST
- Implied Odds: Tampa Bay 55% | Total: 5.0
I think we finally got this right. Just in time for the elimination game!
Yeah…there’s no slowing down Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point right now. These two are on another level, and should continue to be the first two players into your Showdown lineups.
Tyler Seguin got moved around a bit last night, ending up with Corey Perry after Roope Hintz went down with an injury. I’m not sure how Dallas will line up tonight, but if it’s Pavelski with Radulov and Been once again, those are the guys who will command the special defensive attention from Tampa’s side. In that case, I will want to target Seguin on the Stars side.
Nothing changes for me here. Hedman is on the same level as Kucherov and Point right now. An absolute no-brainer for Showdown lineups. You can’t go wrong with any of those three as CAPT.
Jan Rutta continues to be a nice value while he’s paired with Hedman on the top line.
For Dallas, Jamie Oleksiak is actually my top target on their blue line. He’s scoring, piling up peripherals, and is still rather cheap.
I’ll continue to fade goaltenders in this series. Anton Khudobin looks to be falling apart of late. If you’re playing like 5 or more lineups, I don’t think it would hurt to have a Stars stack. With that lineup, I think Khudobin could be considered at CAPT considering his projected shot volume.
CAPT pool: DAL – Seguin, Khudobin; TB – Point, Kucherov, Palat, Hedman
Favorite mini-stacks: DAL – Seguin/Perry; TB – Point/Kucherov, Point/Palat, Kucherov/Palat
Favorite one-offs: DAL – Seguin, Benn, Radulov, Pavelski, Gurianov, Janmark, Perry, Heiskanen, Lindell, Klingberg, Oleksiak, Khudobin; TB – Kucherov, Point, Palat, Johnson, Cirelli, Killorn, Goodrow, Coleman, Gourde, Paquette, Hedman, Sergachev, Rutta, McDonagh
