Only single game Showdown slates for the remainder of the NHL DFS season. We’ve got your backs, though, with a daily breakdown of all the top plays and lineup building strategy.
First of all, I want to revisit Strategy Session #21 – DraftKings Showdown Rules.
I’ve gone back and updated all of my rules. Only one was nixed, so six remain:
Rule #1 – No defensemen at CAPT (87.7% of optimals)
Rule #2 – Use a max of 1 goalie (86.2% of optimals)
Rule #3 – Set a minimum salary of $43,000 (86.2% of optimals)
Rule #4 – Remove third and fourth line forwards from CAPT pool (84.4% of optimals)
Rule #5 – Do not use any full-line stacks (95.4% of optimals)
Rule #6 – Use a max of 2 players from opposing team when using a goalie CAPT, and max 3 players from opposing team when using a UTIL goalie. (~92.8% of optimals)
Now on to today’s game!
Vegas Golden Knights @ Dallas Stars, Game Three
- 8:00 pm EST
- Implied Odds: Vegas 57% | Total: 5.5
Forwards
40 shots on goal from the Golden Knights in game three. Khudobin was spectacular, but it’s not going to hold up. Keep hammering Vegas on these slates.
Stone/Tuch is my favorite mini-stack. Stone was in on both goals on Thursday night, and the pair had 3 points and 7 shots on goal between the two of them.
Pacioretty/Roy is a close second. Although they were held in check last game, both the lower salary and ownership of Roy makes this pairing a solid GPP option.
For Dallas, I still like Pavelski and Gurianov when they’re together. Even though the top line looked great on Thursday, I think the ownership you’ll see for Benn/Seguin/Radulov makes it a less attractive play. Certainly would use any of them as one-offs, but I’m probably not going to stack them.
Defensemen
Nobody stands out as CAPT material. Theodore and Heiskanen are close, but unlikely to outscore some of the forwards.
Either of those two as one-offs, and I also will have Martinez, Schmidt, Lindell, and Klingberg in my pool, too.
Goalies

You now see how the Khudobin play works when the Stars can squeak out a win. 38 saves in an overtime win, and he won a lot of people money in game three.
Lehner, on the other hand, finished with 20 saves, and still wouldn’t have been in the winning lineup had the Golden Knights won. You can avoid him.
