The Stanley Cup Finals continue tonight in Edmonton. Here’s your complete DFS Showdown breakdown for Game Four!
First of all, I want to revisit Strategy Session #21 – DraftKings Showdown Rules.
I’ve gone back and updated all of my rules. Only one was nixed, so six remain:
Rule #1 – No defensemen at CAPT (87.7% of optimals)
Rule #2 – Use a max of 1 goalie (86.2% of optimals)
Rule #3 – Set a minimum salary of $43,000 (86.2% of optimals)
Rule #4 – Remove third and fourth line forwards from CAPT pool (84.4% of optimals)
Rule #5 – Do not use any full-line stacks (95.4% of optimals)
Rule #6 – Use a max of 2 players from opposing team when using a goalie CAPT, and max 3 players from opposing team when using a UTIL goalie. (~92.8% of optimals)
Now on to today’s game!
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Dallas Stars, Game Four
- 8:00 pm EST
- Implied Odds: Tampa Bay 55% | Total: 5.0
Another big swing and miss for me in game three. What started out looking like it was going to be a big night – I have about 80% exposure to Steven Stamkos, who scored on one of his first shifts of the game, then sat out the final 40 minutes – turned into another disappointment for me.
The Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov train is just not slowing down. Dallas has one of the top defensive-minded teams in hockey, and they can’t even seem to hinder them one bit. I guess at this point it would be foolish to continue fading these two, no matter the ownership.
I am really having trouble finding anyone else we need to worry about stacking at this point. Just 56 total shots on goal in game three. These games are slow, and I think finding the one-off goal scorers and defensemen hitting shot and block bonuses is really the key.
Hedman has been unreal, too. Yet another three-point night (1G 2A). He is not only someone who should be considered in your CAPT spot, but he is one of the top overall options there.
Jan Rutta is still a nice value if he remains on the top pairing. He got into some penalty trouble in game three, but still paid off with an assist.
Heiskanan is still the top defender for the Stars, with Lindell and Klingberg being other high floor options.
I’m still not terribly interested in the goaltenders for CAPT right now. If you have some FLEX exposure, I can get behind that, but the upside isn’t there – especially for Vasilevskiy – for CAPT exposure.
CAPT pool: DAL – Seguin, Benn, Radulov, Pavelski, Gurianov, Khudobin; TB – Point, Kucherov, Palat, Hedman
