Only single game Showdown slates for the remainder of the NHL DFS season. We’ve got your backs, though, with a daily breakdown of all the top plays and lineup building strategy.
First of all, I want to revisit Strategy Session #21 – DraftKings Showdown Rules.
I’ve gone back and updated all of my rules. Only one was nixed, so six remain:
Rule #1 – No defensemen at CAPT (87.7% of optimals)
Rule #2 – Use a max of 1 goalie (86.2% of optimals)
Rule #3 – Set a minimum salary of $43,000 (86.2% of optimals)
Rule #4 – Remove third and fourth line forwards from CAPT pool (84.4% of optimals)
Rule #5 – Do not use any full-line stacks (95.4% of optimals)
Rule #6 – Use a max of 2 players from opposing team when using a goalie CAPT, and max 3 players from opposing team when using a UTIL goalie. (~92.8% of optimals)
Now on to today’s game!
Tampa Bay Lightning @ New York Islanders, Game Three
- 8:00 pm EST
- Implied Odds: Tampa Bay 55% | Total: 5.0
Tampa Bay will be missing Alex Killorn and likely Brayden Point, too. With the Islanders being the “home” team, they will look to shut down Nikita Kucherov. We’ll have to see what lines look like, but I’ll likely stay away from Kucherov and whomever he lines up with.
This also means that the Isles top line will get some better matchups. Lee/Eberle will be my top mini-stack on the slate. Barzal has the ability to break a slate, but he is generally owned more than he should be, while Lee, and especially Eberle go overlooked.
I’ll stick with my Bailey/Beauvillier/Nelson exposure. If playing a bunch of lineups, make sure to get yourself a lineup with all of the different combos there.
On the Tampa side, Gourde and Coleman should see some more ice time with all of the injuries, and they’ll be my preferred mini-stack exposure on that side.
Hedman will get some CAPT consideration from me, while McDonagh, Sergachev, and Bogosian all make solid and cheap FLEX plays.
For the Isles, Pulock has the most upside, although I don’t think he’s CAPT-worthy. I do have him projected for over 5 peripherals (SOG+BS) so if you’re playing cash games, he’d be one of my first players in lineups.
This should be a low-scoring game with a decent amount of shot volume on both sides. I’ll have some more goalie volume than usual today, with a slight lean on Vasilevskiy.
CAPT pool: NYI – Barzal, Eberle, Lee, Beauvillier, Nelson, Bailey, Varlamov; TB – Kucherov, Gourde, Coleman, Hedman, Vasilevskiy (we’ll need to see what lines look like before making any decisions here)
Favorite mini-stacks: Lee/Eberle (NYI), Beauvillier/Nelson (NYI), Beauvillier/Bailey (NYI), Nelson/Bailey (NYI), Gourde/Coleman (TB)
Favorite one-offs: NYI – Eberle, Barzal, Lee, Beauvillier, Bailey, Nelson, Pageau, Ladd, Komarov, Pulock, Pelech, Mayfield, Varlamov; TB – Kucherov, Palat, Cirelli, Gourde, Coleman, Goodrow, Hedman, McDonagh, Sergachev, Bogosian, Vasilevskiy
