The players on tonight’s NBA DFS slate with the highest ceilings: Perfect for your GPP lineups on DraftKings & FanDuel!
What’s up my peeps? We’re given the gift of another hybrid NFL DFS/NBA DFS weekend, with six games on today’s NBA DFS slate. The injury news is coming out at a brisk pace today. When it’s all said and done there will be more than enough value to roster whomever you want.
Make sure you really like your roster before hitting the “submit” button. There’s a good chance that injury news breaks up until tipoff so stay on your toes. Remember that this is a GPP article so don’t be alarmed if you don’t see some of the “chalkier” names listed below.
Position By Position
Unlike in other sports, “chalk” plays are not always a bad thing in NBA DFS, even in GPPs. I’m much more willing to play a 40%-owned James Harden than I am a 40%-owned Mike Trout. NBA players are far more predictable, especially those who have established roles.
1. Luka Doncic (DAL)
2. Jamal Murray (DEN)
3. Eric Bledsoe (MIL)
4. Chris Paul (OKC)
5. Derrick Rose (DET)
1. Zach LaVine (CHI)
2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC)
3. CJ McCollum (POR)
4. Khris Middleton (MIL)
5. Marcus Smart (BOS)
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL)
2. Brandon Ingram (NO)
3. Will Barton (DEN)
4. Danilo Gallinari (DEN)

4. Sekou Doumbouya (DET)
5. Jayson Tatum (BOS)
1. Andre Drummond (DET)
2. Nikola Jokic (DEN)
3. + Hassan Whiteside (POR)
4. Steven Adams (OKC)
5. Brook Lopez (MIL)
Top Stud (>$8k) – Andre Drummond (followed by Luka Doncic)
Top Value (<$5k) – Jerami Grant (followed by Jaxson Hayes)
Top Stud (>$8k) – Luka Doncic (followed by Andre Drummond)
Top Value (<$5k) – Nickeil Alexander-Walker (followed by Jaxson Hayes)
– If you’re taking the “studs and scrubs” approach Andre Drummond (DET), Luka Doncic (DAL), Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL) and Ben Simmons (PHI) have the highest ceilings on the slate (in that order).
– If you’re looking to construct a low owned lineup, here are a few recommendations that will buck the current roster construction trends for this slate:
-At the moment, I’m coming up with a Fanduel core of Luka Doncic (DAL), Rajon Rondo (LAL), Al Horford (PHI), Jerami Grant (DEN) and Andre Drummond (DET). On DraftKings, I’m getting a lot of of Rondo, Drummond, Nickeil Alexander-Walker (NO) and Tobias Harris (PHI). I expect these guys to be popular tonight so keep that in mind when constructing your tournament lineups.
-The “studs and scrubs” method of roster construction will be in full force tonight, given the amount of value on the slate. That makes the idea of a balanced lineup an attractive option in tournaments. You can pay down for a player with a slightly lower ceiling at much lower ownership. Low owned studs that I’ll be considering as part of my balanced lineup include Chris Paul (OKC), Jamal Murray (DEN),Khris Middleton (MIL), Danilo Gallinari (OKC) and Kevin Love (CLE).
-Roll with any center other than Andre Drummond (DET). I expect Drummond to be a hot commodity, given the fact that he has the highest ceiling on the slate and is projected to be one of the top two fantasy producers on the night. That makes a pivot to someone like Nikola Jokic (DEN) or Hassan Whiteside (POR) a nearly effortless move in tournaments. You’ll end up with a lower owned stud and save some salary in the process.
-Consider a core of Oklahoma City Thunder players. With the loss of LeBron James (LAL) and the potential loss of Anthony Davis (LAL), the Los Angeles Lakers will take a big hit tonight, when it comes to defensive efficiency (currently ranked third in the league). You can expect Oklahoma City to do their best to take advantage of this opportunity. Starting your tournament lineups with a core of three (or four) Thunders players could be a savvy move in GPPs.
