1.Sonny Gray –
An easy choice for me up top today as Sonny Gray, who has pitched like an ace for the better half of this season, gets a dream matchup in Seattle in a great pitcher’s park that accentuates strikeouts. Even his teammate the bum Trevor Bauer threw a good game against this team last night. Don’t overthink this one. Pay up for Sonny and reap the benefits.
2. Pablo Lopez –
We’ll roll the dice on Pablo Lopez tonight with a home start against a Christian Yelich-less Brewers team that gets a huge downgrade going from Miller Park to Miami. Pablo has been very solid at home this year, so while his overall numbers are pretty ugly, the home numbers are rock solid for a good matchup in a great pitcher’s park where he’s thrived. The $8400 DK price tag isn’t awesome, but it’s a thin pitching slate so I don’t mind rolling the dice here.
3. Jose Urquidy –
This man has burned me a few times, but I’ll take that risk again tonight with a home start against the A’s. This isn’t a great matchup and it’s by no means a slam dunk play, but I still love Urquidy’s stuff and the minor league numbers continue to look quite good. The A’s are mostly right-handed so Urquidy should be able to navigate this lineup if he’s on his game.
4. Andrew Kittredge –
I can’t make any assurances about how long he’ll go into the game, but the Rays’ Andrew Kittredge will serve as the Rays’ opener tonight against the Rangers, he’s minimum priced on DraftKings, and he’s absolutely nasty. He’s gone as far as 3-4 innings in a few outings this season, which is what you are hoping for here. He hasn’t pitched in 6 days so perhaps he’s got a decent leash here if he’s cruising. He allows you to get the big bats and honestly most of the pitching is far from secure today. I’ll take a risk on Kittredge who could get your 5-7 strikeouts over 3-4 innings if things really go his way. I don’t think GPPs are won with pitching today so even if it’s 5-10 points out of Kittredge I don’t mind it for $4200.
