- Mike Clevinger – Clevinger is the ultimate GPP play this afternoon who is going to come in virtually unowned and is right up there with the highest upside on the slate. I wish he was priced down in low 10k range, but at this price, it just guarantees he’s going to come in around 5-10%. He’s my top high priced play this afternoon for GPPS. Remember we are trying to win tournaments here not bottom end cash.
- Matthew Boyd – Boyd comes in as the easy play in my opinion. He has a great matchup against the Rays who have struggled mightily against LHP this season. I expect he and Wheeler to be the most popular SP1 plays today which is what makes Clevenger so appealing despite the difficult matchup.
- Jason Vargas – Vargas has a great matchup today and with the Padres missing Tatis it only makes his floor higher. Vargas will be very chalky this afternoon but its chalk I’m willing to eat. This lineup doesn’t scare me at all and outside of Machado/Renfoe he should cruise through this lineup with ease.
- Trevor Richards – Richards is going to get the start this afternoon which does worry me a little, but I do, however, think he’s playable in all formats. The Tigers lineup is a joke and they have the lowest implied team total on the board. The only thing we have to worry about here is if they only let him go 2-3 innings, but I highly doubt thats the case.
