What’s up, #EliteMafia! Welcome to “The Early Bird,” where we’ll cover the pitchers, stacks, and one-off players you’ll need to dominate today’s early MLB DFS slates on DraftKings and FanDuel!
Today, this article will focus exclusively on the DraftKings/FanDuel “Early Slate” starting at 4:05 PM EST. Today is a nice seven-game slate on FanDuel and DraftKings.
***High winds again in KC blowing out at 12 MPH to left field, but the temp is down, and it’s overcast. All OTHER games are being played in 80-degree weather if Texas opens the roof.***
MLB DFS Pitchers
Lance McCullers, RHP, Astros ($8,000 DK / $9,400 FD)
Just a tad cheaper, McCullers has a great matchup against the Rangers. He too has had success against his opponent, with a 30% K rate, and has allowed just a .191 BA against this roster. Lance just faced this Rangers team on 5/16 and was solid enough for a cash contest. He has only had one game that he has allowed more than 3 ERs.
Pablo Lopez, RHP, Marlins ($7,200 FD ONLY)
The Mets placed Alonso on the IL, and the starting lineup has taken a huge hit. For Lopez, the DK price jumped way too high for consideration, so he’s a FD-only option. He should face a lineup with five bats with a 25% K rate. The ballpark should help, where he’s allowed just a 0.64 HR/9, and his hard hit% of 33% is the lowest on the slate.
Shane Bieber, RHP, Indians ($11,200 DK / $11,500 FD)
Last year’s Cy Young winner has not been as dominant, but he still has a 13.88 K/9 and a 1.22 WHIP. Bieber is very familiar with this Twins roster. In 142 PAs, he has a 31% K rate and has allowed a .267 xwOBA.
Brady Singer, RHP, Royals ($6,600 DK / $8,000 FD)
The sites have finally priced up the young pitcher, and today’s matchup will bring some ownership. Singer has been great against this Tigers team with a 29% K rate and allowing just a .241 xwOBA. Concerns here though. The winds are blowing out, and the fact that this will be the third time facing the Tigers. He has had his best performance of the year and his worst.
Other GPP Options:
Sonny Gray, RHP, Reds ($10,400 DK / $7,600 FD)
Jordan Yamamoto, RHP, Mets ($4,000 DK / $5,500 FD)
MLB DFS Stacks
- Reds: The stadium is always one to target for homers, and Castellanos and Suarez matchup up BVP and pitching-wise against Anderson. 1-7 in play, those two start the build.
- Braves: Start with Acuna, Freddie, Riley, Ozuna. Keller has allowed 1.71 HR/9. I don’t expect a 20 spot, but there shouldn’t be a reason they can’t produce again. Mix and match bats.
- Nationals: Young LHP on the mound, starting with Turner and Scharber, who has started to heat up. We could get a cheap Zimmerman with the lefty. Castro is a cheap option and could at a bad 2B option today.
- Astros: The bats are priced up majorly on DK, but on FD, you can squeeze in a few. Starting with Tucker and Brantley, try 2-3 bats against statically the worst pitcher on the slate.
