Bullpen (Phil Backert)
There’s a lot to digest from the Major League Baseball trade deadline as most of the trades involved relievers. If we didn’t think bullpens mattered before, we certainly do now as teams are gearing up for a playoff run by beefing up on relievers.
The Braves bullpen has struggled throughout the month of July, but added three relievers over the last couple of days which will significantly impact everyone’s roles.
The same goes for the Nationals, a unit we have targeted consistently this season. These additions should help both teams moving forward.
Phil Backert: According to MLB Network Radio, 36 relievers were traded which surpassed last year’s total of 34. That’s insane and will have an impact in DFS moving forward.
Phil Backert: We’ll continue to look at the recent performances, but keep in mind it will take a couple of days to truly see the impact.
Phil Backert: The Phillies have allowed a hard hit percentage of 51.1 percent over the last seven days which includes a 42.6 fly ball percentage. This has led to six home runs. Lefties hit 10 home runs in the month of July.
Phil Backert: The Angels have allowed a hard hit percentage of 47.2 percent over the last seven days which has led to six home runs.
Phil Backert: The Mariners and Rays allowed a whopping 19 home runs against right-handed hitters in the month of July.
