Bullpen (Phil Backert)
Phil Backert: The Marlins bullpen allowed another home run on Tuesday night and have allowed 11 over the last 14 days.
Phil Backert: The Mets and Phillies bullpen have both been used a lot as the Mets have thrown 32.2 innings over the last seven days while the Phillies have had to cover 30.1 innings. More specifically, the Phillies have thrown 19 innings from the relievers over the last three days.
Phil Backert: Despite pitching to a 2.00 ERA over the last week, the Tigers bullpen has an xFIP of 5.42, a flyball percentage of 51.2 and a hard hit percentage of 50. Their left on base percentage 94.3 will be hard to sustain.
Phil Backert: The Twins are allowing opponents to hit .297 over the last week. The unit also ranks dead last in walk percentage at 16.5. It should not come as a surprise that they rank last in WHIP as well at 2.09.
Hitting (Benny Ricciardi)
Rhys in the LU…I like his FB% ve Wheeler today vs bringing it back with mets lhhs
BennyRicciardi: Like the Mets, Arrieta pitching above his head early, numbers don’t back it up, His xFIP always > ERA, but the spread is too big
im rolling royals/mets gpp early, sprinkle in some mil
BennyRicciardi: Royals are tough to back, that lineup is hot garbage, Milwaukee is just so hot right now
wacha huge walk%, there will be lots of guys on
BennyRicciardi: and Milwaukee a great place for HRs, baserunners + HR park = no bueno for Wacha. Matt Carpenter is an awesome early slate play tooo, He profiles as one of the best hitters for me. I didn’t include him in write because of early game, but he would have been a top option for me if he was on the main slate
Benny, for LU construction tonight, where are you starting (for hitters)
BennyRicciardi: So for GPPs if you want to be different, I think you have to avoid or selectively use Rangers, They should be uber chalk tonight, In cash I love Choo, one thing I don’t agree with is Mike Trout being uber chalk. Today not the day I want to be heavy Trout
Yelich or harper for early?
BennyRicciardi: both good plays, but I lean Yelich
Yelich has to cool off for at least one game right?
sooner or later the cardinals are just going to stop pitching to yelich right? or at least stop feeding him center cut fastballs
BennyRicciardi: always tough with young pitchers trying to project minor league stuff to MLB, but it’s not often they improve from minors facing better caliber hitters. I mean I would have thought that after maybe the second HR the other night, but apparently not. Yelich will be chalky, but the guy has been the best fantasy producer since the all-star break last year of anyone in the league
benny if ur going mets stack early what mets do u like
BennyRicciardi: I’d be looking to go with lefties and then Alonso on a stack
High on DeJong at all? Hard to fit some of the studs with Keller
BennyRicciardi: not huge on DeJong, but on a short early slate he’s not a bad play
so whats your thoughts on pitching on the early slate Benny outside of not liking Arrieta
BennyRicciardi: I think Keller is my favorite early slate pitcher due to the matchup, plus kid has some solid numbers. I am very nervous about Walker Buehler. I love the kid, but he’s looked like shit early on. Buehler should be fine though, Velocity is good, His pitch mix is better than last year, He’s throwing his best pitches more and dropping the ones that worked less, so he’s doing what should be probable for him. Buehler has the most upside by far.
Cano/Alonso a nice mini stack?
BennyRicciardi: I do like Mets, lefties mostly, Alonso on GPP teams
that MIL lineup is nice…big fan of gamel
BennyRicciardi: I didn’t see Milwaukee lineup yet, Let me go look. yeah Gamel leading off is nice. Even Braun hitting fifth. Wacha a RvR reverse split guy, Grandal chalk C batting third here
most of MIL will be chalk today
BennyRicciardi: That Brewers team is scoring runs, They deserve to be chalky, especially on a four game slate
who got to burnes the first time benny? he did have 12k’s
BennyRicciardi: Carpenter, Goldy, and DeJong all went yard in that game, all off Burnes. Carpenter was the best that day, the other guys all had a couple Ks to go with their hits. honestly though, that game is an outlier for him.
yeah…he’s been serving them up
BennyRicciardi: Burnes has some K upside, but that first game was way above expectations, 12 of 15 recorded outs via strikeout is not something sustainable for any pitcher
so benny you like the cards stack to crush today?
BennyRicciardi: no… not on Cards stack, just Carpenter. Full disclosure though, I am a Matt Carpenter stan.
jose martinez heating up
BennyRicciardi: Jose Martinez is not a guy I ever trust, He burned me last year a lot, Has great stat cast numbers though, should be a better hitter than he is
2nd option after Keller? Arrieta>
Benny you like Mets or Phils side today??
BennyRicciardi: I go Burnes over Giolito for cheap SP2 or K upside. I like Mets side and bringing it back with Bryce, not really on the pitching in that game, others will be, that’s kind of my big stand on the early slate
is giolito ok on FD? or should i pay up for keller
BennyRicciardi: I prefer Keller, but I can see why people want Giolito. Giolito chalk is not something I feel like eating though, and at the price he’ll be chalky
no love for wheeler?
BennyRicciardi: not for me, he hasn’t been great and he’s coming off a 110 pitch performance, that always makes me nervous, Plus negative park shift and running into an offense that is pounding runs lately
Dodgers day game the ball flies a little bit better out of there any dodgers you like?
BennyRicciardi: yeah…. Dodgers are interesting vs. Gray. Gray is not going deep and he has looked good, but the matchups were vs. Pirates and Marlins who are soft competition. They are not on early FD slate, but on early DK slate Dodgers bats in play. again, usual suspects against the RHP. lefties mostly: Joc, Muncy, Seager
burnes over gray on DK?
BennyRicciardi: yeah, Save money, and remember Gray throwing like 60-70 pitches. I know he looks good with the insane K numbers here early on, but that’s not going to last.
only reason I liked Gray was bc bellinger/turner might be out but if he’s only throwing 60-70 pitches then fuck that noise
Gray is on a Pitch limit?
I don’t think he’s on a pitch limit. Reds just pull pitchers early
BennyRicciardi: through three games Gray averaging 71 pitches. Now he did only throw 60, but he also took a liner last game, so that may be why in other two only 72 and 83 pitches, so at best you are getting 5-6 innings, and again, I’m not a believer that he’s a strikeout pitcher all of a sudden. Facing the Pirates and Marlins makes anyone look better than they are.
with that you don’t have the same concern with Buehler
BennyRicciardi: so not as much with Buehler, His pitch count is ascending and even in a bad game last time out he threw 85.
moose/harp/dejong or cano/yeli/alonso/
Arrieta will be low owned?
BennyRicciardi: I don’t think so since he’s a favorite and has pitched well
so what P, are you on? keller?
BennyRicciardi: Keller, and a little Buehler, for the early games at least
gio or burnes?
BennyRicciardi: Burnes > Gio for me
you like Keke/Pollack?
BennyRicciardi: Keke Pollock as part of a Dodgers stack only, they don’t profile the best here
and goldy/alonso? thanks dude
BennyRicciardi: Goldy > Alonso. I like Alonso on a Mets stack, but Goldy far superior hitter.
BennyRicciardi: Pollock > Soler
McCutchen over Pollack?
BennyRicciardi: YEs Cutch > Pollock
BennyRicciardi: my uber eats delivery is two minutes away, Any last questions, fire them in now
What you getting? lol
BennyRicciardi: haha, BAr B Q place…. Brisket and Sausage
Fuck that sounds good
BennyRicciardi: of course smoked Brisket, is there any other way to cook and eat it? You grill steaks, you smoke Brisket… Everyone knows this
DraftCheat: Pitching is rough today!
If only Wheeler knew what to do witht the velo
DraftCheat: Wheeler is so overrated
DC what is your reaction to Gibson yesterday?
DraftCheat: stuff looked good. got squeezed a little bit IMO. Jays also did a good job laying off his slider. Thought he was gonna get out of it on that Smoak groundball but 2 runs scored in the the reliever let the 2 inherited runners score. It happens
so what Pitchers today, or is it just a crap shoot today and go for the bats
DraftCheat: early slate I am on Giolito and Burnes
Which stacks you like for the early
DraftCheat: Mets, phillies, I think Keller is gonna come crashing down soon, I’m not a big believer. Hoskins goes yard today, you want that quick bat against Wheeler
I’m glad I came in here I had wheeler lmaoo
DraftCheat: he’s a solid option, just not much power, also, #alwaysmoncada
Mondesi as A one off? Having trouble at SS
DraftCheat: yeah love mondesi always basically, even though I’m on Giolito. Moncada top bat on the slate IMO, Realmuto top catcher but total punt is fine too
Shaw vs Carp?
OF? Always Bryce
DraftCheat: Yelich top OF, obv
keller or Giolito early slate cash SP2?
DraftCheat: Giolito > Keller
Who do you like from the mets
DraftCheat: 1-5 basically, can leave off McNeil if you want
Alsono or hoskins?
DraftCheat: toss up, love both. I’ll slightly lean hoskins
Dc any love for the Dodgers?
DraftCheat: always. If going Dodgers I like a full stack. Hope Sonny doesn’t have it which obviously happens relatively frequently
seagor or dejong as a one off?
so have MKE/Mets stack with Burnes/Gio. Have to fill SS. Do you use Mondo against gio?
DraftCheat: you can, or just leave salary cap on the table. totally fine on this slate.
Joc or Conforto
DraftCheat: both good plays , i’ll lean conforto, conforto is legit
Im guessing you like the over in that game dc? 8.5
DraftCheat: did it fall to 8.5? i had it pegged at 9 and that’s where it was this morning, so i didn’t bet it
Anderson or Rosario? Or would You just go down to Seager
DraftCheat: anderson over rosario
Would you play Carrasco on fan duel today? I own him in season long him and sale absolutley killing my rotation with bum and marquez
DraftCheat: you could play him, for sure, i don’t really see anything wrong with him but I didn’t before his last start either so i’m a little gunshy
Just bad luck on getting rocked?
DraftCheat: not bad luck, but his pitches are all the same as last year and I doubt he forgot how to pitch. I dunno I think most likely thing is he bounces back but I’m not entirely confident in my analysis here
DraftCheat: weird slates today, almost anything *could* work
Can I ask you a seasonal question DC? Want your opnion on a trade
Giancarlo Stanton and Blake Parker for Ohtani (Batter), Aroldis Chapman and Chris Archer. Who wins that?
DraftCheat: Ohtani side, assuming its a fairly deep league. Ohtani gonna smash IMO, got him on a lot of NFBCs
i agree, he has triple dong power, he can easily match or beat giancarlos HR count
