Bullpens pitch 40% of all Major League innings and are often forgotten about by people when making lineup decisions. Here at elitefantasy, we’re committed to providing 100% analysis of pitching, not just the 60% you’ll find elsewhere!
FanGraphs relievers stats over the last seven days:
We stressed not to believe the slight improvement by the Orioles’ bullpen and they did not disappoint as they have allowed nine home runs over the last week with an opponents batting average of .325. What is disappointing is that they finally decided to option David Hess to the minors.
The Phillies bullpen was spotlighted as a unit to target last week and they imploded on Friday and Sunday. Over the last seven days, the bullpen has allowed seven home runs with a hard hit percentage of 47.4 percent. They are also allowing a fly ball percentage of 42.3 percent with an opponents batting average of .347.
I can keep going as they are allowing an eye-popping slugging percentage of .719 to right-handers in the month of June and .607 slugging percentage to lefties. Both are clearly the worst in baseball during this month.
The Astros are allowing a hard hit percentage of 58.1 percent over the last seven days which is the worst in baseball. To put that in perspective, the next highest team is allowing a hard hit percentage of 48.3 percent.
