Your complete guide to tomorrow afternoon’s League of Legends DFS slate on DraftKings.
The League of Legends Online Championship takes place tomorrow on DraftKings, with $100,000 going to first place. Wish me luck!
My projections for the 5-match LEC slate are already loaded into the EliteFantasy.com LoL optimizer and lineup builder.
If you’ve missed my past articles, I’ve gone over three “rules” I use when building lineups on a 2-match slate, as well as tips on how to utilize the optimizer to help you to implement them. Well, tomorrow we have a 5-match slate, so my rules change a bit.
Rule #1: Use only ADC, MID,
or JNG in your CAPT spot.
With the bigger slates, the Junglers get removed from my CAPT pool. In 36 DK slates of 4-6 matches since March, 78% of optimal lineups had either an ADC (56%) or MID (22%) in the CAPT spot.
Tip: In the optimizer, you can simply remove all of the TOP/JNG/SUP/TEAM captains from your player pool.
Rule #2: Have at least one
4-man 3-man stack in all of your lineups.
On a two-game slate, there are only two winners and two losers, so a 4-man stack is generally going to be in every optimal lineup. With more games, comes more opportunity to land on a more unique optimal build.
In 36 DK slates since early March, only 12 times (33%) was the winning/optimal lineup a 4-3 build. A 4-2-1 build was optimal 14 times (39%), and a 3-3-1 build six times (17%).
Tip: In the optimizer, you can set all lineups to use a 3 or 4-man stack under “Advanced Options” >> “Team Stacks” >> “Add Stack” >> “Stack Size: 3 (or 4) players” & “Add all (teams)”.
Rule #3: Make sure to have two other position players stacked with your CAPT. When a CAPT has so many kills, his teammates are generally piling up the assists, or vice versa.
This rule still applies on the bigger slates.
Tip: You can set a rule in the optimizer to set all CAPT to be stacked with at least 2 players. “Advanced Options” >> “Position Stacks” >> “Stack CAPT with at least 2 players of TOP/JNG/MID/ADC/SUP from same team”.
Rule #4: Make sure to stack at least one JNG with his ADC (either in ADC or CAPT). This is the biggest positional correlation on 4-6 match slates, with a jungler being stacked with his ADC in 84% of optimal lineups. (SUP/ADC is the next highest correlation, appearing together in 76% of optimal lineups; followed by MID/JNG in 72% of optimals)
Tip: You can set a rule in the optimizer to stack your JNG with his ADC by going into “Groups” >> “Create New Group” >> “Type to add player” (add the JNG and tap on the key icon to make the jungler the key player) >> Set a new group rule that states “IF [JNG] is used, must use at least 1 player from this group” (and simply add the ADC as ADC and again as CAPT)
Tip #2: To put this more simply: a 4-man stack that includes the JNG/MID/ADC/SUP (possibly with either MID or ADC in CAPT) is going to be the most optimal 4-man stack on the bigger slates.
Some other settings I like to use when MME’ing on a 4-6 match slate:
- 2-3 unique players per lineup
- Minimum salary of $45,000-46,000
- Offensive players vs. TEAM pos – 0 players
- Randomness around 10-15%
- Players from Game MAX – 4
- Limit Opposing Players – 0
Tomorrow afternoon’s slate features five matches from the LEC:
MAD Lions (+195) vs. G2 Esports (-280)
- Projected kills (per my model): G2 18.6 – MAD 15.9
Team Vitality (+130) vs. FC Schalke 04 (-180)
- Projected kills (per my model): S04 15.6 – VIT 9.2
Origen (-750) vs. SK Gaming (+425)
- Projected kills (per my model): OG 15.1 – SK 5.7
Rogue (-220) vs. exceL eSports (+155)
- Projected kills (per my model): RGE 13.0 – XL 9.4
Misfits Gaming (+180) vs. Fnatic (-250)
- Projected kills (per my model): FNC 14.3 – MSF 11.4
Lineup Building Process
On these bigger slates, I would recommend starting your lineup with a 4-man stack using JNG/MID/ADC/SUP. So you would either go:
- CAPT (ADC) – JNG – MID – SUP
- CAPT (MID) – JNG – ADC – SUP
- JNG – MID – ADC – SUP
In non-4/3 lineup builds, TEAM is the solo position in ~53% of optimal lineups. ADC is the solo position ~20% of the time. Therefore, if you’re using builds 2 or 3 above, I’d recommend making the TEAM spot your solo bullet if you want to go 4-2-1. If using build #1 above, ADC or TEAM would be the one-off.
With that in mind, here are my player rankings by position – these are value rankings based on point per dollar:
- CAPT: Innaxe (S04 – ADC), Carzzy (MAD – ADC), Humanoid (MAD – MID)
- TOP: Orome (MAD), Alphari (OG), Dan Dan (MSF)
- JNG: Shad0w (MAD), Jankos (G2), Inspired (RGE)
- MID: Humanoid (MAD), Larsson (RGE), Caps (G2)
- ADC: Innaxe (S04), Carzzy (MAD), Perkz (G2)
- SUP: Kaiser (MAD), Mike (G2), Doss (MSF)
- TEAM: FC Schalke 04, Origen, Fnatic
The chalk will be G2, MAD Lions, and Origen – and rightfully so.
If you want to get contrarian, I also like FC Schalke 04, Rogue, and Fnatic.
