Tired of the grind trying to win on the big DFS sites?
There are new daily fantasy start ups popping up all of the time in this industry, and to be frank, most of them are not worth reviewing. PrizePicks, a new game that we at Elite Fantasy have partnered with, is the exception. With PrizePicks, you don’t have to try to beat 10,000 other entrants with your plays, but rather you versus the projections. I’ll say this right off the bat: to be able to turn a profit on PrizePicks, you can’t go crazy with the number of picks and plays every day. You’ll need to pick your spots, as we’re looking for soft numbers we can exploit.
PrizePicks has many innovative features, from the ability to choose your picks from players from the same game to what I think is the most unique feature: the ability to pick players to beat their projections across multiple sports. As I mentioned earlier, you can’t go crazy with the amount of volume picks you play on this site, and instead focus on players you think have a great chance to beat their projection. By allowing multiple sports into each entry, we get more options to beat the projections.
PrizePicks gives you three options when selecting “teams” to put together: Pick two players to get paid at 2.5x, three players to get paid at 5x, or four players to get paid at 10x. All three options have roughly the same ‘expected value’ so it’s really about being confident in your selections and not venturing too far from that.
As mentioned previously, they do allow you to correlate your picks to a certain degree, and it’s wise to take advantage of that. From my experience so far playing, their projections are FAR from perfect, so if you can find, say, an MLB pitcher who is projected for far more points than he should be, selecting the ‘under’ on the pitcher (you can select over or under projected fantasy points for every player) and then choosing the best hitter against that pitcher gives you a nice correlation edge. They do limit the amount of hitters you can take against a particular pitcher, but not to the extent that this isn’t still a very viable strategy.
Another cool thing about PrizePicks is they are constantly refreshing their player pool. Oftentimes during MLB season there will be a lone MLB game or perhaps two games that start before the rest of the games typically start at 7 EST. PrizePicks will have many available selections for those games enabling you to get a sweat in on a winnable scenario with a few of your favorite plays. You don’t have to beat 10,000 Showdown lineups all will the same strategy that you have. You just need to beat the projections on a few of the best plays to have a winning slate and a fun sweat.
In the end, you’re not likely going to make a living playing solely PrizePicks, but there are certainly edges to be had, but you do need to be relatively selective in your player choices to hopefully turn a profit. But with the amount of sports, games, and updating slates even throughout a sport’s slate of games, there are plenty of options to get in the action. It’s a fun new way to experience fantasy sports.
I’ve had nothing but fantastic interactions with the folks PrizePicks and give it my endorsement. I’ll have my plays up on the site as often as possible here at GuruElite and hopefully we can churn out some profits together.
