This article will attempt to bridge the gap between the conservative Man’s Cash Doctrine, and the “all-in” Mass Multi Entry (MME) approach to GPPs. There is a middle ground I call winnable GPPs. They are perfect for the more risk-tolerant DFS players. Many GPPs pay out 20-25% of the field, and if you search you can find some that pay out 2X on your entry fee if you place in the outer fringe.
By all means, play your cash games and take your shots downfield on a large field GPPs when it fits your situation. But here we will focus on the winnable GPPs that pay 22%-25% of the field and avoid the robotic mass entry sharks.
NFL Week 5- DK
NFL 50K Blindside $27 Full Slate – DK typically runs two Blindsides. One 50K and one 100K. Both grade out about the same each week. Most prefer the 50K due to the smaller field size of 2159. Top prize for this version is 5K, with almost 23% of finishers cashing a Min Cash of 2.0x. First place receives 10% and the top ten receive about 31%. The rake is just over 14%.
NFL 50K Fair Catch $12 Early Slate – The Fair Catch is another bellwether contest that should always be on your radar. Top prize in this one is a screenshot worthy 5K. There are 4901 entries with just over 21% of finishers Min Cashing at 2.0X. Remember if you look at your builds and you are pretty much fading the late games, consider playing the early contests. This week you will potentially avoid slate busters like Hunt and Zeke. And if you are up big early, reinvest into the afternoon slate.
NFL 50K Hard Count $20 Afternoon Slate – The late slate is a 4 game slate on DK and features the Dolphins/49ers Broncos/Pats Giants/Cowboys Colts Browns. This is a 3 max entry with a top prize of $1500. 24.4% of finishes will Min Cash 1.5X. With only 882 Entries and three max entry, this is a very winnable GPP. On the full slate, you may be fading Dak due to the matchup. But here you are almost certainly having a Dak WR/TE lineup with a Slayton bring back!, and one with just Zeke with the Dallas D. I’ll leave the light on for ya!
NFL Week 5- FD
$7K Sun NFL EPE Dive $1 1 PM only – This is for the guys that may be just starting out in DFS. This contest does not let experienced players enter. It’s a 50 max, which is something not normally recommended, but it pays out a whopping 30% of finishers. The rake is only 10% with the top prize of $350. Min Cash is set to 2.0X and only 5% goes to first. The field size is 7777. Call this a Cash Game/GPP hybrid. So if you are new to DFS, give this one a try.
$100K NFL Luxury Box $555 Full Slate – Vlad and I had a conversation last week. We wanted to find out which contest was better… The Monster or the Luxury Box. They grade out almost identical. They both have low rake, pay out 24%-25% of finishers and Min Cash is around 1.80X. Both are top-heavy (the nature of smaller high dollar contests), and pay 20% of the prizes to first place. So what makes them different? The Monster has a field of 1000, and the Luxury Box has a field of 200. To me, it’s a no brainer. You play the Luxury Box even though the Monster has a top Prize of 100K and the Box has a paltry 20K top prize. Another advantage to the Box is it is a Single Entry as opposed to the Monster which is a 30 Entry. If you are going large this week, this one is for you. Good luck Vlad!
$35K Sun NFL Flea Flicker $7 Full Slate – The Flea Flicker is a five entry contest with a field of 5882. Top prize is $3500 with the top 25.5% of the field padding their bankroll. Min Cash is set to 2.0X, with the top 10 finishes only receiving 25% of the total prizes. If you typically build five cash lineups, consider dropping them into the Flea Flicker, as well. I’ll see ya in there! Bring it!
Jedi Rules – Each week I’ll add a rule that although you can certainly break, you will want to pay attention to. For example, if you are stuck on two players, apply the rule.
Week one – We learned that you may not want to start an opposing running back against the Pittsburg defensive line. Barkley 15 carries for 6 yards.
Week two – We learned that Leonard Fournette is the guy in Tampa Bay. After a long search, Bruce Arians has finally found his guy. Play Fournette before his salary explodes. Also a shout out to Mans for the outstanding call on Fournette in week 2!
Week three – Week three’s rule was going to be to ignore week two’s rule. But I think you stick with Fournette. Week three’s rule is to sell high on OBJ and ignore him in DFS. He has publically stated he’s probably not going to put up big numbers. Let go of the past and live in the now. Cleveland will destroy you on the ground, not through the air.
Week four – What did we learn in week four? We learned Hunt is a must play in all formats until Chubb returns. He is going to be a three-down back; he has a nose for the end zone and is now the top weapon at Baker’s disposal. Use Hunt is every format until the wheels fall off.
A word about SuperDraft. This site continues to fly under the Radar. In addition to the Elite Sports 50/50s they run for us, there are tons of other Multiplier Games that are just plain fun to enter. I do not think I’ve seen the $20 Red Zone fill yet this season. If you are not familiar with the Multiplier Games go check them out. And oh yeah, this is a fun site because Elite Fantasy Sports actually provides you content, so you are ahead of the field before you even click.
New users get a 50% deposit bonus (up to $600) by using promo code “Elite” on www.superdraft.io
