This article will attempt to bridge the gap between the conservative Mans Cash Doctrine, and the all in Mass Multi Entry (MME) GPP approach to the coming NFL week one main slates. There is a middle ground I’d like to call winnable GPPS as defined by taking a stab at a large return but staying in the long term game by winning some, if not all your entry fees back each week. 150 lineup tournaments are banned from this article.
Double ups and 50/50s on DK usually pay 43.5% give or take, and 50%. In GPPS we are aiming at the top 20%-25%. It is the middle ground for the more risk tolerant players. By all means play your cash games and take your shots downfield on a large field GPPs when it fits your mindset and bankroll on any given week. But we shall focus on the 20%-25% smaller field GPPs.
Tommy G told me a few years ago (chat room), “learn to stay in the game.” What he was saying is if you grind in the right GPPs, you can and will take one down with the right process. And the ones you miss, well if you are top 22% on any given night you can still double your entry fee with the right GPP. Let’s try to find the best GPPs that can deliver the money to your bankroll.
NFL 10K Front Four $4 – This contest mimics the MLB Four Seamer. It’s a 20 max entry contest that pays out almost 24% of participants with a top prize of $1000. With 2972 entries you are not playing against a small city of guys. It’s also $4 with a total payout of 10K. This keeps the big guys out. If you can afford the 20 entries, just think of the ground you can cover with lineup construction.
NFL 100K Engage Eight $8 – This tourney is a 3 max that costs $8 to enter. The bad, you are playing against a small sized town of savoy guys. The good, it pays almost 23%. The top place wins 10% of the purse. The top 10 get distributed 29% of the purse. We like to keep the top 10 under 30% so we are good there. With 14.7K entries, you have entered lottery zone. But you have to take a shot downfield every week. This is your contest to look at with 10K going to first. It’s the screenshot we all want to post. Supplement your cash games with a GPP such as this.
NFL 200K Three Point Stance $33 – When your bankroll and confidence has you sticking your chest out when you start clicking on contests, you should land here in week one. 25K to first, 5 max entry, and pays out almost 24% of entries. You will be playing against the best in the industry, but you only live once my dudes. With 5 lineups you can cover a lot of ground, get weird, eat some chalk, and crush the big boys. With 7067 entries, it’s calling our name.
$65K Sun NFL Scramble $10 – This contest is a single entry with a field of 7647. It’s $10 to enter, and if you cash (Places 801-1765), you are doubling your money at $20. It’s not as easy as a 50/50, but 23% of the field will double their money. With a top prize of a cool 5K, we can expect to cash, and maybe a bit more. This is a perfect complement to your cash game lineup that you think has a little extra in the tank than just cashing.
$100K Sun NFL Sweep $25 – Is a field of 7647 too large to wrap your head around? Let’s looks at the Sweep. This contest pays 22.64%, a top prize of $10K, Min cash of 2X, and a field of 4705. As you can see as we move up just a small amount in entry fee, life begins to look easier. Whenever you get a single entry this small that pays out 2X it should be on your to do list. In general, a lower total will take this contest down when compared to larger field contests like the Scramble. We shall see on that prediction.
Week one is the wild west in the NFL. We don’t have stats, we don’t know snap share, we don’t know who gets what yet! It’s the week to jump on it with the Mafia on your side because they actually watch the games. Now let’s go!
