Welcome to “Healy’s Hints”, where Brian tells us his favorite NFL DFS plays for your lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.
Hey, guys! I’m excited to bring my NFL GPP content over to Elite Fantasy, where I’m hoping we’ll be able to build upon all of our 2018 success. If you’re not familiar with how I break down my articles, here’s a crash course. This piece will be broken down into three sections:
1. A cheat sheet, broken down by position and salary (using FD positions & prices).
2. My favorite stack(s) to target, and which players I prefer in those stacks.
3. My “Today’s Edge” section, which covers my top TD picks, the players I will have the most exposure to across all of my lineups, and my “Edge” play, which is my favorite play (or fade!) on the slate.
Note: My top-owned plays and “The Edge” play will be updated no later than 1hr prior to lock!
This article will cover the Week 1 Main Slate, which begins Sunday at 1:00pm EST.
Players to consider for your Week 1 NFL GPPs. This isn’t a list of every player I will have, but rather the top guys I’m including in my stacks/core. Players may be here because of their matchups, their ownership, or even because they’re a good leverage play off the chalk.
A common roster construction I use in large field tournaments is stacking a QB with one or two of his skill players (RB, WR, TE), then using one or two guys from the opposition. I plan to attack Week 1 no differently.
My top overall stack is the Chiefs. We saw this matchup in Week 5 of 2018: Mahomes put up his worst numbers of the year, and the Chiefs still managed to hang 30 pts. The Jags defense has worsened since last year, so the matchup for Mahomes and the KC offense isn’t as difficult as most believe. Expect to see Tyreek in shadow coverage from Ramsey all day (a battle I expect Hill to win). Kelce is certainly the preferred play, with the highest floor in a match up with JAX’ two new safeties. The KC RB situation is tough to predict, and one I’m mostly avoiding (outside of a few shots in large field, MME GPPs).
With many focusing on the KC side of the ball, I also love the Jaguars side in a game script where they’re going to need to score points and play quickly to keep up. New OC DeFilippo has always been a pass-first kind of guy, so Foles and the Jags’ skill players are all in play. Dede Westbrook and Leonard Fournette are certainly my preferred options to pair with Foles in any stacks. I’d be willing to take a few flyers on Chris Conley and DJ Chark in larger field GPPs, as well.
Others to Consider
(Murray/DJ/Kirk or Fitz)
Chris Carson, Travis Kelce
My Top-Owned Plays (based on exposure across all my lineups)
RB: Dalvin Cook (good chalk) WR/TE: Travis Kelce
Julio Jones! (eruption spot)
