Top NASCAR Daily Fantasy Picks for DraftKings, FanDuel
FEDERATED AUTO PARTS 400 QUICK FACTS
- Richmond Raceway
- SATURDAY 9/12/20 – 7:30 PM
- .75-mile Paved Oval Track
- Qualifying – None
Off to Richmond, VA for the second round of the playoffs. This is a 400 lap event.
Last Race Notables: Martin Truex Jr. won.
- Laps Led – Kyle Busch: 202, Truex Jr.: 109, Brad Keselowski: 89
- Start/Finish – Ryan Newman 19/5, Joey Logano 28/11, Bubba Wallace 37/12
Remember, the number of laps sway the importance of scoring in different directions. Fewer laps = fewer laps led points and fewer fastest lap points, making place finish and place differential points a bit more valuable. Yes, you will still need the dominator, but there is less likely of a chance to have two or three of them and really separate them from the pack.
NASCAR DFS PROCESS
Let me give you guys a better idea of what we are doing here for NASCAR. We put out an early article with some track stats and what drivers to target, based on the numbers. Then we put out the final DFS picks article (which you’re reading) with drivers who seem to be fast or have good or bad starting positions. I put out a total of 12 drivers I like and a few who I am off. The guys I am off are typically guys who don’t run that well here and are starting in a decent position.
I am trying to narrow things down for you. Too much information can just be confusing. If you need more information, you can look at the projections tab and my cheat sheet. Take a look at the scoring to better understand why I do it this way.
Point Scoring
DK Scoring
Drivers will accumulate points as follows:
- Place Differential = +/- 1 PTs (Where they start vs. where they finish….Start 20th, Finish 10th = 10 pts)
- Fastest Laps = +0.5 PTs
- Laps Led = +0.25 PTs
- Finishing Position Scoring (Winner 46 pts, 2nd 42 pts, 3rd 41, 4th 40, 39, 38, 37, etc…)
FD Scoring
Drivers will accumulate points as follows:
- .1pts for each lap completed
- Place Differential = +/- .5 PTs (Where they start vs. where they finish….Start 20th, Finish 10th = 5 pts)
- Fastest Laps = +0.5 PTs
- Laps Led = +0.1 PTs
- Finishing Position Scoring (Winner 43 pts, 2nd 40 pts, 3rd 38, 4th 37, 36, 35, 34, etc…)
Track Stats
Let’s take a look at some of the track stats.

FEDERATED AUTO PARTS 400 DFS PICKS
Top Tier
Martin Truex Jr. ($10,900) – Starting 14th. Won the last two here. Should have won last week. Getting hot at the right time!
Denny Hamlin ($11,600) – Starting 7th. Short track guy. Been a beast all year. Has three wins here.
Kevin Harvick ($11,300) – Starting 1st. See Hamlin.
Kyle Busch ($9,800) – Starting 6th. Just having a tough year for his standards. Can he get his first win of the year here? He has six wins here at Richmond. Double anyone else running Saturday night.
Mid-Tier
Joey Logano ($9,300) – Starting 2nd. Short track guy. 12 top 10’s, nine top 5’s and two wins here at Richmond.
Kurt Busch ($9,100) – Starting 8th. 15 top 10’s, seven top 5’s and two wins here. Looking for a solid run here Saturday night. Chalk up another top 10?
Jimmie Johnson ($8,700) – Starting 18th. Crunch time, can JJ get a win this year? 16 top 10’s, seven top 5’s and three wins at Richmond.
Clint Bowyer ($8,300) – Starting 11th. 16 top 10’s, five top 5’s and two wins here at Richmond. Lots of bad racing luck all year. Starting to go the other way around. I like another top 10 for Bowyer on Saturday night.
Sleepers
Ryan Newman ($7,000) – Starting 21st. Great price point and starting position for Mr. Consistent, with an average finish of 12.3 here. Should be a real safe play this weekend.
Matt DiBenedetto ($7,500) – Starting 16th. Finished 14th last time out here. I look for him to better that performance Saturday night.
Chris Buescher ($5,900) – Starting 25th. Great price point and starting position. Lots of upside here. A top 10 is realistic for Chris here at Richmond.
Chris Bell ($7,200) – Starting 26th. Won Xfinity race here last year. Up and down all year. Good starting position and lots of upside here.
Also, like Bubba Wallace a bit. Finished 12th here last year.
