What up everyone. The usual teams are on break this weekend but I couldn’t let you take the week off because I’m sure as hell not! There are some slates with these Euro Qualifiers so I’ll put out quick articles with some pertinent information to get you started building rosters. Ultimately, team news will be key but these are the starting blocks you’ll need.
-NED -575 3 (-105o/-115u)
-SLK +155 2 (-120o/EVENu)
-CRO -290 2.5 (-125o/+105u)
-RUS -195 2.5 (+120o/-145u)
Three big home favorites on the slate with the Dutch having the highest total as well. That Slovakia and Wales game might literally go unowned. Typically guys that have performed well with the National teams in the past will continue to do so. As always, consider the form of the players as well. For example, Serge Gnabry just scored four goals in the Champions League and will likely start for Germany. He’d be a player to target for Wednesday’s action.
One of the interesting notes about this competition is that not all of the teams have played the same amount of games. You’ll see the Netherlands sitting behind Northern Ireland yet they are -575 favorites. Odd, right?
PLAYERS IN MY POOL
- Depay – NED – $11.8k
He’s played in four games and scored four goals in this competition. He leads the line for the biggest favorite on the board. This isn’t rocket science but it is a good spend up. His ceiling is monstrous. He put up a 50 burger against Belarus!
- Wijnaldum – NED – $7.2k
You might be thinking this is a lot for Wijnaldum but this isn’t Liverpool Wijnaldum. He plays further forward for the national team with two CDM’s sitting behind him. He has goals in three of four. NED run rampant and we need pieces.
- Malen/Promes – NED – $9.1k/$7.6k
I have these two listed today because I think Malen starts but for salary reasons would prefer Promes. Regardless, three pieces of the NED attack is fine for GPP.
- Veltman – NED – $4.1k
I don’t love any of the other defenders for their price. De Ligt is worth a GPP flier at only $3.7k and likely to pick up the CS bonus.
- Rusak – SVL – $6.4k
I do think Slovakia are the better team but lost the reverse fixture 1-0 to Wales. Rusnak plays on the attacking wing and gets on the ball a ton. His finishing isn’t the best and this is a low total. GPP game stack only, really.
- Bale – WAL – $9.8k
My belief is that ownership will flock to Dan James at only $5.2k but the spend up in this game is right here. He fired six shots against Slovakia in the home fixture while drawing four fouls. He didn’t get his goal that game and with a low total here we need to limit our exposure a touch. In good form at the moment for Madrid.
- James – WAL – $5.2k
If the play seems obviously it’s because it is. He had a terrible game against Croatia but other than that has been mint for Wales. Eight and six crosses in his last two. Form has dipped a touch for United but well worth the risk for the price.
- Modric – CRO – $8.9k
He’s the reason I think Bale’s ownership will be less than it should be. They are much bigger favorites and Modric takes the penalties for Croatia as well. The price is less. There are a lot of reasons to like Modric. They had a terrible result the last time out tying Azerbaijan so they’ll be looking to put on a show.
- Vlasic – CRO – $6.1k
Want to save a little money but grab a piece of the CRO attack? Here is your man. I really liked that he completed the full 90 in their dud against AZE. That means even though the manager made all three changes he relied on Vlasic to stay on and help grab a goal. He is a shots assisted monster and managed to score against Slovakia.
I’m waiting on Hungary team news before making any decisions there. I’m mostly on Croatia. Willi Orban might grab some ownership but his logs are heavily skewed by the two goal outburst against AZE…notice a theme where that team keeps popping up? Yeah, they are terrible.
- Fernandes – RUS – $5.1k
The spend up at D. Incredibly consistent throughout Euro Q and also managing to get off 10 shots in six games, a great rate for a defender.
- Cheryshev – RUS – $6.7k
The darling of the World Cup. His price is very reasonable. He’s only played once since March but managed to fire in 10 crosses in his start against Kazakhstan. He’s projected to start on the left wing and I’ll have shares.
- Dzyuba – RUS – $9.4k
The price is gross but the goal scoring odds are good. Not my favorite play but in good and leading the line for a home favorite.
- Golovin – RUS – $8.2k
The big decision here is Modric or Golovin. Pricing is relatively close but Golo is a bit cheaper and pushed further up the field. I lean Golovin quite honestly. Get this, without a goal he’s averaged 25.13 pts in his last four games. Should he bag one we are dancing naked. 26 shots in five appearances means the chances are there.
- Fraser – SCO – $5.8k
Assuming he starts, and he should, this price is simply too low. The ceiling might be limited by matchup and styles of play but the floor is certainly there. In games where he’s completed the full 90 minutes, he’s averaging 23.4 pts/game.
- McGinn – SCO – $5k
Scored in the reverse fixture and in great form for Villa. Very risky play as his floor is quite low.
Whoever you aren’t playing against!
