Tottenham STINK!! Sheffield United are pretty damn good. Those 2 things can both be true at the same time. Honestly, Sheffield got ROBBED of a win. They were the better team and had a fairly obvious goal called back by VAR. Such is life.
Big wins by Burnley, Newcastle and Everton take us into Sunday where DK have decided on a 3 game slate. I was wondering if they would split it up into 2 slates but instead we are dealing with not only LIV/MCI, but a split start slate. Should be fun!
To the desert…
-Man Utd -145 2.5 (EVENo/-120u)
-Wolves -110 2.5 (-120o/EVENu)
Aston Villa +330
-Liverpool +150 3 (+105o/-130u)
Man City +175
What if I told you that Brighton were playing the better football of these 2 teams? Yeah, I really do think that at the moment. It’s been translating to results as well. Wins in 3 of their last 4 with only a 2-1 loss away to Villa as the blemish on a sterling month. NOW, in saying that, all 3 wins were at home. They’ve yet to win a game away from home outside of the 3-0 drubbing of Watford on opening day. They drew Newcastle, but, in general, their form has been bad on the road.
United have made a concerted effort to make Old Trafford a fortress again. Trying and doing are 2 very different things. They tied both Liverpool and Arsenal and beat Leicester and Chelsea. Considering their standing in the table that is a hell of a return. The 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace is a head scratcher but the point remains, no one has played a tougher home schedule than United. This will be seen as an opportunity for 3 points by the Red Devils. Should Martial/Rashford continue their form it will be.
I actually have these two teams ranked pretty similarly. Perhaps Wolves are slightly ahead of Villa but Villa have really come on of late. Specifically the 1-2 loss to Liverpool was impressive. Taking the lead on the best team in the league is something to hang your hat on as a newly promoted team.
Wolves are finding their feet but not getting enough wins to bounce up the table. They have gone 6 games unbeaten but have drawn 3 straight. They have been borderline poor at home, conceding 1.6 goals per game. A very un-Wolves type of stat. Their scoring is up to 1.4 but still under the league average at home. Facts remain, they are a sturdy Bournemouth. We don’t know what they are going to get. Raul Jimenez in particular is a frustrating player for me. He’s supremely talented. Big and physical but far too often gets lost in the shuffle. Traore and Jota add attacking flair. I would take Wolves front 3 over Villa’s but it’s close.
HEART EMOJIS IN THE CHAT!!!
I’ve been waiting for this game for weeks. These are true 6 pointers. Title deciders. City won the game last January and ended up winning the Prem by a single point. Yeah, it’s that close. So what’s on the line here Sunday afternoon? The Premier League title. Should City win the game, they’d close the gap to 3 points with a superior goal differential and head to head win. It would be a massive result. It’d also be Lilverpool’s first loss of the season in the Prem.
Liverpool are still yet to lose in the Prem. 1 tie v United away is the only relative blemish on their schedule. At home? Flawless. They are scoring goals for fun, too. 4, 3, 3, 2 and 2 goals for. They’ve also conceded in every home game. In fact, their goals against are DOWN away from home. They tend to play a touch more conservative on the road. They are bagging a ridiculous 2.80 goals per game at home but obviously, they aren’t playing City every game.
City’s defensive issues have come and gone this season. They are extremely thin at CB, even with John Stones returning from injury. They have kept 3 clean sheets from their last 6 games and held Crystal Palace scoreless last time they were away from the Etihad.
- Trossard – BHA – $6.3k
He’s back in a big way. This is about $1k too cheap, even away from home. For that reason I like the value he provides.
- Martial – UTD – $8.1k
Love his form right now. Scored a brilliant individual goal on Thursday in the Europa League that should help his confidence. Certainly good options around this price range but he’s tops for me.
- Salah – LIV – $8.6k
This man steps up in big games. Getting him under $9k feels like stealing but with City’s issues at the back, he could have a field day. They’ve had a rotating cast of characters at LB and I don’t think anyone really can do the job on Mo.
- Rashford – UTD – $8.3k
He and Martial are the dynamic duo at the moment. You get some direct free kick equity as well as, likely, penalty kick duty too. The LIV/MCI game is a toss up. I like attacking this from a Utd perspective.
- Aguero – MCI – $9k
Away from home in a massive game, you’d have to think Pep goes with Sergio. The man for the big moment won’t shy away here. If given 1 chance, he’ll bury it.
- Mahrez – MCI – $8.4k
I’m down on KDB and if Mahrez starts, he’ll be my cash option from City.
- Wesley – AVL – $5.2k
Best goal scoring odds in this price range. Wolves are conceding nearly 2 goals per game at home. I don’t love him as a player but the spot is decent.
- McGinn – AVL – $6.5
This guy’s floor without set pieces is insane. Obviously has upside as well with his goal/assist share. He could eat up Moutinho in the midfield.
- De Bruyne – MCI – $8.7k
Yes, he’s a very good play and we might actually have the salary. Not a total fade from me.
- Trezeguet – AVL – $5.2k
Perfect price range to take a stab in GPP contests. Goal upside.
- Moutinho – WOL – $6.3k
Cash option. Set pieces.
- James – UTD – $7.4k
Upside from the M position. He’s cooled off on the scoring charts but continues to influence games with his pace and movement. Shot numbers down or he’d be higher on the list.
- Pereira – UTD – $6k
Has taken over all set pieces. Playing in the #10 role for Utd. Has had opportunities but hasn’t taken them.
- Wijnaldum – LIV – $4.2k
The M from LIV i’m willing to take a chance on. If they go with the usual 3 in the midle he’ll be the one getting forward with Henderson. I like him for his ability to quickly break up the counter as well.
- Alexander-Arnold – LIV – $6.7k
Hard to fade here. We saw Digne get home at $7.3k today. Might get pinned back a touch by the attacking talent of City. That is the only worry.
- Robertson – LIV – $5.4k
Here is a player that I NEVER roster who gets to 2x every game. He perhaps lacks the upside of TAA but for $1.3k less….
- Targett – AVL – $4.6k
Been crushing off the left for Villa.
- Wan-Bissaka – UTD – $5.1k
WOW this is expensive and he’ll need an assist to justify the price. Will be instrumental in defending the creative Brighton attack. Tackle numbers high.
- Dunk – BHA – $3.5k
As someone who watches every minute of every United match, allow me to inform you how poor they are at marking set pieces. The big man could get on the end of one.
- Van Dijk – LIV – $3.9k
Can you believe this is “cheap” for a CB? Don’t love the CS odds but for floor and upside I don’t hate the play at this price.
- El Mohamady – AVL – $3.4k
With Guilbert banged up perhaps he gets the start. Cheapest viable fullback.
- De Gea – $5.6k
- Heaton – $4.2k
- Alisson – $4.8k
