Duke’s EPL DFS Preview for Four-Game Tuesday slate…
Just a few slates left! This one comes at us with 4 games at 3 different start times. Welcome to 2020/21 soccer DFS. Hey, remember, we were playing Aussie League soccer at 3am because we didn’t have sports forever. Enjoy what we have!
As I’ve been stressing, motivation will be key. However, teams that “have nothing to play for” can still produce fun games. Crystal Palace beat Aston Villa 3-2. Leeds smacked around Burnley 4-0. Especially if you are looking to sneak into the King of the Pitch tournament or playing big GPPs, it’s important to not completely cross out a game.
To the desert…
Man United were finally able to come up for air after playing 4 games in 7 days. With just 2 games remaining and the priority clearly being the Europa League final I don’t really know what to expect from this team. Their matches are absolutely producing goals from both teams so from a DFS standpoint we’ll have exposure.
As for who wins and loses, your guess is as good as mine. The absence of Harry Maguire has caused issues throughout the team. Fred in particular has suffered his worst spell of the season. United have conceded 12 goals in their last 5 games. Yikes.
Fulham have decided to sit the LOAN players and go with guys they hope to be around next year in the Championship. I get the move but it’s certainly not helping their chances to win games. Southampton put 3 past them pretty easily this weekend. It’s not going to be a fun final two games for Scott Parker’s men.
Team news will be key but obviously they are big favorites here. Grab exposure to both teams.
I just assume that Bielsa takes away all personal possessions from his players and they don’t know if it’s game 1 or 38. I love that we know that we are going to get max effort every game. They may not win or even play well but they’ll try! T
ypically that is enough to get it done late in the season when their opponents are planning a summer in Ibiza. 7 goals from their last 2 games and 6 points. In total, Leeds have scored 8 goals from their last 4 away matches. Klich went off injured last match and will likely miss the match but other than that we have a full squad.
With the way Southampton play, you’d expect this match to have some fireworks. The first match between these two produced 3 goals all by Leeds. Danny Ings was taken off early at the weekend but it didn’t slow down the exploits in front of goal. Back-to-back matches with 3 goals and 5 of those coming from Forwards. You can almost see the front players smelling those end of year goal bonuses.
I had this game lined with a total of 3 and -110 towards the over. The market even sees slightly more action in front of the goal. This could be a fun one.
A late Man City game with heavy rotation and 7 goals…a tale as old as time! A quick reminder that City’s final 5 matches in the Prem last year were all wins with a net goal differential of +20. Eyeballs emoji!
One of those matches was a 5-0 hammering of Brighton who were firmly in the relegation race and needing a result. I can’t imagine de Bruyne would be risked in this spot. They’ve been crowned Champions and still have the Champions League final at the end of the month. I imagine he gets more rest and recovery while maybe playing 60 minutes on the final day of the season on Sunday. Aguero is also a doubt and likely won’t feature.
Surely this Brighton team is better than last year’s and they proved as much with just a 1-0 loss to City earlier in the year. In general they’ve been competitive against the top 4 but have only taken 1 point from 7 matches against the top 4. At home v the top 4 they have the following results.
I’m not saying both teams will score and Brighton will lose but I am saying Brighton will lose and both teams have a chance to score…. Newcastle just put 3 past old ass Scott Carson!
The tough part here is obviously we won’t know team news at lock for the early games. Plan accordingly. We’ll have some work to do before the early games.
Think there is any bitterness, anger or revenge narrative coming into this game? I said I didn’t like Leicester’s chances against Chelsea going into the FA Cup final but then Thomas Tuchel tried to be the smartest guy in the room, playing Reece James at CB with Azpilicueta at RWB. He waited far too long to make attacking substitutions.
Frankly, they lacked creativity against a low block from Leicester. Add in the fact that Kasper Schmeichel made several world class saves and Leicester walked away with a trophy.
Here we are just a few days later and we get the immediate rematch. Chelsea now face the very real possibility of losing the FA Cup, missing out on the top 4 and losing the Champion’s League final where they will surely be the underdogs.
After Liverpool’s win this weekend they are just 1 point behind Cheslea with a game against Burnley on Wednesday. Basically, they had the world in their hands 4 days ago and now have the most pressure of basically any team on the planet. How they respond on Tuesday will tell me a lot about Tuchel and this team in general. That’s two games in a row where they haven’t scored and lost. The turnaround needs to be swift and immediate.
Leicester have their own issues here. They sit in third and can be jumped by Chelsea if they lose. Should they lose and Liverpool win, they’d be level on points with Liverpool and ostensibly sitting 5th in the table with a match against Tottenham on Sunday. From the glory of FA Cup trophies to missing the top 4 in the span of a week would be a brutal emotional roller coaster.
Either way, I expect this to be a tense, tight, low-scoring game.
