DIXIE VODKA 400 QUICK FACTS
- Homestead-Miami Speedway
- Sunday 2/28/2021 – 3:30 PM
- 1.5-mile Paved Track
Let’s stay hot here in Florida. This is a 267 lap event.
Last Race Notables: Denny Hamlin won
- Laps Led – Hamlin: 137, Ryan Blaney: 70, Joey Logano and Chase Elliott: 27
- Start/Finish – Logano 11/3, Tyler Reddick 24/4, Aric Almirola 21/5, Austin Dillon 16/7, Christopher Bell 36/8, William Byron 22/9, Matt DiBenedetto 23/14, Michael McDowell 30/15, Cole Custer 35/22, Ryan Preece 33/24
Remember, the number of laps sway the importance of scoring in different directions. Fewer laps = fewer laps led points and fewer fastest lap points, making place finish and place differential points a bit more valuable. Yes, you will still need the dominator, but there is less likely of a chance to have two or three of them and really separate them from the pack. I expect there to be two or three guys to get some significant laps-led points this weekend, unlike last year, where Harvick got them all.
NASCAR DFS PROCESS
Let me give you guys a better idea of what we are doing here for NASCAR. We put out an early article with some track stats and what drivers to target, based on the numbers. Things can change once qualifying and practice are over. So, then we put out the final DFS picks article (which you’re reading) with drivers who seem to be fast or have had a good or bad qualifying run. I put out a total of 12 drivers I like and a few who I am off. The guys I am off are typically guys who don’t run that well here and have qualified in a decent position.
I am trying to narrow things down for you. Too much information can just be confusing. If you need more information, you can look at the projections tab and my cheat sheet. Take a look at the scoring to better understand why I do it this way.
Point Scoring
Drivers will accumulate points as follows:
DK Scoring
- Place Differential = +/- 1 PTs (Where they start vs. where they finish….start 20th, finish 10th = 10 pts)
- Fastest Laps = +0.5 PTs
- Laps Led = +0.25 PTs
- Finishing Position Scoring (Winner 46 pts, 2nd 42 pts, 3rd 41, 4th 40, 39, 38, 37, etc…)
FD Scoring
- 0.1 PTs for each lap completed
- Place Differential = +/- 0.5 PTs (Where they start vs. where they finish….start 20th, finish 10th = 5 pts)
- Fastest Laps = +0.5 PTs
- Laps Led = +0.1 PTs
- Finishing Position Scoring (Winner 43 pts, 2nd 40 pts, 3rd 38, 4th 37, 36, 35, 34, etc…)
Track Stats
Let’s take a look at some of the track stats.

DIXIE VODKA 400 DFS PICKS
Top Tier
Kyle Busch ($11,800) – Starting 24th. I really like Kyle this weekend. Lots of bad luck last year. Don’t think he will be that popular. He is one of the best. Nine top 10’s, five top 5’s and two wins here at Homestead.
Martin Truex Jr. ($11,400) – Starting 9th. Truex is a 1.5-mile track beast. He has 10 top 10’s, six top 5’s and a win here at Homestead.
Denny Hamlin ($9,600) – Starting 1st. Can you say discount? I mean, for this price point, I love Hamlin on Sunday. Not to mention his 11 top 10’s, five top 5’s and three wins here at Homestead.
Kevin Harvick ($10,100) – Starting 4th. 17 TOP 10’s, 11 top 5’s and one win here at Homestead. Discounts on both him and Hamlin this weekend. Starting the year off in Harvick fashion: 6th and 4th so far this year.
Mid-Tier
Tyler Reddick ($8,500) – Starting 35th. Solid cash play. Great starting position for a guy who should be fast on Sunday. He finished 4th here last year.
Joey Logano ($8,400) – Starting 25th. Six top 10’s, four top 5’s and a win here at Homestead. Nice discount for a top driver and threat to win almost every week. Finished 2nd and 12th so far this year.
Christopher Bell ($7,600) – Starting 3rd. Coming off his first career win last week. Bell, a stud in Xfinity, will be in a fast car. The question is, what can he do with it? Some risk due to starting position, but I think he is in for a great run on Sunday.
Matt DiBenedetto ($8,800) – Starting 37th. Safe starting position play. DiBenedetto finished 14th here last year.
Sleepers
Chase Briscoe ($7,200) – Starting 30th. Great starting position on a great team. Rookie risk, but Chase is a great driver and should be able to move up the field.
Ross Chastain ($7,400) – Starting 32nd. See Briscoe. Same.
Ryan Newman ($6,900) – Starting 15th. Vet. Nice price point. Consistent driver. Newman finished 7th here in 2019. Six top 10’s, two top 5’s in his career here at Homestead.
Bubba Wallace ($7,500) – Starting 19th. Finished 13th here last year. Running a Michael Jordan owned car and upgrade from last year. Bubba always has some risk but should have a fast car.
