Mike Forbes previews the NASCAR Truck Series at DIS.
Friday brings the start of the Nascar Truck Series season at Daytona International Speedway. Put right in the middle of Speedweeks the Nascar truck series provides one of the most entertaining and explosive races of the week.
When the entry list came out for the opening race many were shocked to see 46 entries for only 36 spots in the race. That means ten trucks will be sent home after qualifying Friday afternoon. What makes it even worse for us DFS players is that we will not know these drivers until a couple hours before the race.
The bottom line is we will only have a couple hours to react and get our lineups in before the green flag flies Friday night.
The truck race usually is the biggest wildcard in a week full of wildcards. Pack racing is the most volatile type of racing. You often here the term “the big one” at tracks like Daytona and Talladega. These are crashes that wipe out a large portion of the field. They are often the result a simple mistake that at other tracks wouldn’t be a huge deal but with 20-30 cars and trucks running bumper to bumper result in large crashes that take out drivers who have nowhere else to go.
What makes things for the Truck series is that most of these drivers have very limited experience racing in these types of conditions. These trucks are faster than what they are used to the pressure to perform is much greater. There is a lot of unknown when it comes to handicapping these types of races. There is a large drop off in terms of equipment at these lower levels which we can use to our advantage. There are also drivers who have made a career at this level. These are the drivers we want to pound and take home some profits.
When it comes to ranking for this race, I am going to rank all 46 drivers so that our subscribers have a good base to work with when making their lineups. We will not have time to adjust the rankings before the race so the ten drivers who do not qualify just get taken out. The drivers who do make the race will have shown solid speed and can be used at the bottom of your lineup.
Here are the rankings for the race.
