What’s up #ELITEMAFIA, it’s a 2-game College Football Thursday night starting at 7:30 PM EST. As the season moves on, these weekday games will start to become a regular thing.
Let’s jump right into the game by game breakdown.
Georgia Southern @ South Alabama (7:30 PM KICKOFF)
Spread: GSOU -10 | Total: 45.5
The first game of the night features two teams from the Sun Belt Conference. First off, Georgia Southern is a triple-option team led by QB Shai Werts. Werts was injured earlier this season, but returned last week. He had 21 carries for 93 yards in his return. After him, Wesley Kennedy’s is returning from suspension. Kennedy was the team’s leading receiver in 2018 and averaged 7.8 yards a carry for 432 yards. DraftKings was smart and they have him priced higher than King. The other two options at running back are Logan Wright and J.D. King. Wright is averaging 5.5 yards per carry, however King has seen a bump in carries over the last 2 games. Also, King has 12 carries inside the redzone. All four are in play; South Alabama has allowed 206 rushing yard per game.
For South Alabama, Tra Minter is the focal point in their offense. He is in the top 25 in the nation with 432 rushing yards. He is averaging over 8 yards per carry. Additionally, he has PPR upside with 18 targets across 5 games. Wideouts Jalen Tolbert and Kawaan Baker are both around $5,000 on DraftKings. Each have 25 plus targets and over 150 receiving yards on the season. The expectation of a 10-point spread could lead to more targets with South Alabama playing from behind.
DFS Targets: QB Shai Werts (GSOU), RB J.D. King (GSOU), RB Logan Wright (GSOU), RB Tra Minter (SALA), Jalen Tolbert (SALA), Kawaan Baker (SALA)
Temple @ East Carolina (8:00 PM KICKOFF)
Spread: Temple -12 | Total: 47.5
Moving on to the American Athletic Conference with Temple at ECU. Starting with Temple, the two lead backs will be used on heavily tonight. RB Re’Mahn Davis is coming off a 2 TD game and 135 rushing yards. RB Jager Gardner had 18 carries, but was held in check against GT. Both backs should continue to feed. QB Anthony Russo benefits the most from the successful running game, his $7,800 salary is steep on this small slate, but ECU is ranked 73rdagainst the pass. The three main Temple WRs, Jadan Blue, Isaiah Wright, and Branden Mack are all in play. DraftKings put a huge price tag on Blue. Blue has had 7 plus targets in each game and if you can fit him, he works great as a QB-WR pair with Russo. If Blue is not fitting, Branden Mack is nearly $2,500 less. Mack has 8 redzone targets.
ECU offense ranks 94thin total offense and Temple ranks 19thin total offense. I am not interested in much because of that. The only player that I would consider is Blake Proehl. Proehl has a team high 28 targets and if game theory plays out like expected, he should continue getting targets.
DFS Targets: RB Re’Mahn Davis (TEMPLE), RB Jager Gardner (TEMPLE), WR Jadan Blue (TEMPLE), Blake Proehl (ECU)
