Yes, the main season is winding down but I feel like things are just heating up. The final 4 teams in the Champions League.

Tottenham come into this game having lost 3 of their last 4 games they’ve played. 2 of those losses were at the hands of Manchester City. 1 of those they did just enough to see themselves through to this round of the Champions League comp so you can say they did get a “result” in that game. Listen, I don’t love Harry Kane but it is a massive downgrade to go from Kane to Llorente or even Lucas Moura. Facts are facts.
Ajax have won 7 and drawn 1 in their last 8 games. They find a way to get it done, and it’s usually with style. They have a good mix of flair and steel. De Ligt is a monster at the back and considering he put Ronaldo in his back pocket, I can’t see the TOT forwards giving him too much trouble. Tadic and Ziyech have been absolutely fantastic throughout this competition but don’t sleep on Neres as well. His directness has added an element to this attack.
I would imagine Tottenham would be very conservative in this game. An away goal would be bad. A loss would be devastating. Due to other results, it looks like Tottenham have a top 4 place locked up in the EPL so the sole focus will be on this fixture. Quick reminder…Son is suspended for this game. Not good my friends.
Outside of a meaningless Supercopa loss to Girona, Barca haven’t lost a game since mid January. They good! What I’m most excited for is the extreme contrast in styles. Barca play slow and methodical build up with quick connecting passes and bursts at the end of attacking sequences. Liverpool are a Ferrari. Nothing but horsepower from start to finish. Van Dijk has really shored up the back line but I can’t get over Matip or Lovren as the other CB. Joe Gomez was the best option but Liverpool seem to be sticking with other options. Gomez has been a substitute in 3 straight games. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson may be the best fullback duo in the world. The other team in this game has pretty strong pairing as well. And that’s the DEFENSE.
What fireworks await? Messi, Salah, Suarez, Mane, Coutinho, Firmino. There is plenty to get excited about.
As for the game flow, I expect Barca to have more of the ball but I would not expect 70-75% possession. Liverpool would actually like Barco to push forward and create those spaces in behind for their runners. Careful what you wish for. Messi is the GOAT for a reason.
Messi – BAR – $9.8k
How do you fade Messi? I like the Liverpool D and Alisson but this guy is too involved to ignore at under $10k. I’m going to differentiate elsewhere vs the fade of Messi.
Tadic – AJA – $7.9k
Yeah, I do like Tadic more than Salah. I like this spot for Ajax, as you’ll see. Tadic has done some damage on the road in the UCL. Ziyech is the main play but I like grabbing 2 pieces of this Ajax attack.
Salah – LIV – $8.1k
OK here you go. Yes I saw his hat trick this weekend. Yes I love confident forwards. No I don’t think on the road against Barca makes him a must play. Good, not great play.
Neres – AJA – $6.2k
The best value at the F spot. Goal dependent and GPP only. Capable of popping one in. Good to pair with Ziyech to get up the leaderboard in Qs.
Suarez – BAR – $8.3k
Suarez is just crazy enough to still hold some ill will against Liverpool for the delay of his transfer. I don’t rate him any longer but he’s still damn good. I doubt he’ll be owned. GPP.
Mane – LIV – $7.4k
I think he’ll be higher owned than I want to grab. If I do get a feeling he’s going to be under 15-20% I’ll boost him up this list.
Ziyech – AJA -$9k
Lock for me. Cash and GPP. DFS stud in a matchup that I think Ajax will see as an opportunity to put this matchup to bed.
Moura – TOT – $5.9k
No Son. No Kane. He has to start and will be relied upon for an attacking presence. He’s cheap and that’s the main reason for his placement in my hierarchy.
Eriksen – TOT – $7.6k
He’s going to take everything. Shots. Corners. Free kicks. Direct free kicks. At home so I’ll have so exposure. I actually think Ajax have a chance to win this game.
Keita – $4.1k
More of a GPP play for me. Cheap but should start. Don’t know if he’ll go 90 and I do expect Liverpool to be a bit more conservative on the road but he’s ok value.
Coutinho – BAR – $8k
Honestly don’t love this price and/or opportunity. This is not a revenge game kids. Coutinho has been at Barca seemingly forever. Dembele actually should start and will see time if he doesn’t.
Alexander-Arnold – LIV – $4.8k
Probably the most consistent of the defenders.
Veltman – AJA – $3.9k
3x in his last 2 games. He can get there on the road.
Tagliafico – AJA – $4.4k
Too cheap for potential production. Not sure he bombs forward on the road.
Rose – TOT – $4.6k
I’m guessing he’ll be relied upon to provide width and attacking force, even from the back. He has played in advanced roles as well.
Van Dijk – LIV – $3.8k
SET PIECE GOAL. Also could get 2 points. GPP only.
GOALKEEPERS (Ranked in order)
Onana – AJA – $4.5k
Need value with most of my builds. I prefer him to Alisson slightly due to win odds.
Alisson – LIV – $4k
Ter Stegen – BAR – $5.5k
Don’t love he or Lloris but prefer him of the 2.
Lloris – TOT – $5k
Play whoever you aren’t rostering. There aren’t really any great GK plays nor terrible GK plays. He is at home and a favorite. Just seems like $5k is too much for this.
