Your boy Duke has your back for the Sunday Funday DFS slate in the Premier League!!
DraftKings took an absolute bath this morning. Overlay on all major GPPs and it will certainly change things moving forward. Here is the good news, when the contests came out the soccer community finally agreed on something and hit DK Assist with complaints about the split slate. No one wants to sit around and edit soccer lineups all Saturday.
Hopefully it’s just the type of contests that change and not the contest size. They’ve gone with a Showdown slate for NEW/SHU and a 2 game classic slate for the later 2.
To the desert…
-Newcastle +230 2 (-120o/EVENu)
Sheffield Utd +130
-Aston Villa +525 3 (EVENo/-120u)
-Everton +475 2.5,3 (-115o/-105u)
There is so much turmoil at Newcastle at the moment. Do they have new owners? If so is it the Saudis or the Americans? Who stays and who goes? Is Steve Bruce the long term solution? Are they going to stay up? It looks that way at the moment. They are relatively healthy for this match but Sheffield already have a game under their belts and are the better side.
For Sheffield, the top 4 dream looks gone but they’ve been brilliant all season. I don’t expect a ton from this game in terms of DFS production but would tend to side with NEW attackers and SHU midfielders.
Villa were the other half of that Sheffield game on Wednesday and looked pretty good in the draw. John McGinn returning certainly provides a needed boost to the midfield for Villa. They will need a minor miracle to pull of a win here. Against the top 4, they have 0 wins, 0 draws and 6 losses. The losses combine for a horrible core of 4 goals for, 21 against.
So yeah, I like Chelsea here. They won the reverse fixture 2-1 but this Chelsea team will be motivated. For 1, the Man United draw will have them anxious to extend their lead in the top 4. 2 – Chelsea have already been very active in the transfer market. There will be several players looking to prove to their manager that they are the present and the future.
The derby! Throw the record books out the window when these two play…well, not exactly. Liverpool still dominate the series, especially of late. In terms of quality, these two are on two different planets. Liverpool have wrapped up the title with 9 games to play. That is insane.
Everton hit a purple batch from DEC-FEB but when they came up against the class of the division just before Covid they faltered. 2 losses and a draw against Arsenal, Utd and Chelsea saw the momentum halted but they’ll be looking to work their way into the top half. This will also be Ancelotti’s first merseyside derby and I expect him to have a good game plan for his troops.
What else can be said about this Liverpool team? They are insane. Full stop.
- Mane – LIVE – $10.2k
I really battled with the Salah/Mane decision. For me, they are both fantastic plays here as I expect Liverpool to win and both have absurd quality but Mane edges things out for me due to his upside. Back in December he went off for a goal and 2 assists in this fixture in a wild game. He’s also a touch cheaper.
- Abraham – CHE – $7.5k
Call me crazy but this boy will be motivated to perform and i have Chelsea winning. We know on his day he can bag a brace and at under $8k that’s the upside we target in GPP. Chelsea are the biggest favorite on the board and I’m likely to have more CHE than LIV.
- Salah – LIV – $10.5k
For all the reasons you know. Only downside here is price.
- Pulisic – CHE – $8k
All reports out of camp are praising Pulisic for hit fitness and quality. He’s scored several goals leading up to this match. I’m all in on Chelsea. Puli to Tammy ftw.
- Almiron – NEW – $5.7k
This is a risky play but he was starting to figure out the system and how he fit best just before the break. A lot can chane over 3 months but if you are looking for value at F, he’s a decent option.
- Richarlison – EVE – $6.2k
A touch worried about the upside considering the matchup but he’s such a gamer and loves the spotlight. No bigger fixture than this. His price also allows for us to take a chance here as his median game won’t kill us.
- Mousset – SHU – $4.9k
Simply too cheap if he starts considering his ability.
- Grealish – AVL – $8.5k
Am I playing Grealish in cash? Yes. GPP? Not sure yet.
- Mount – CHE – $7.6k
There is a gap between where I have Grealish and the rest of the high end mids but for upside, Mount tops the list. His goal impacts have slowed after a fast start but he did bag one just before the break. With young players a lot can change. This is boom or bust.
- Shelvey – NEW – $6.5k
If no Matt Ritchie he’ll be firmly in cash consideration.
- McGinn – AVL – $5.3k
Possible cash game play at this price. Plays as the more attacking of the CMs and has shown ability to get forward. This will largely depend on who starts for Chelsea in the middle. Kante would make his life tough.
- Wijnaldum – LIV – $3.7k
Depends on how they lineup. If he’s in the lineup with another CDM then he can get forward and use some of his ability in the box to provide upside.
- Saint-Maximin – NEW – $6k
DEEP GPP option here but I don’t mind the odd stab here paired with Joelinton for a cheapish goal/assist combo. Sheffield are so organized that they will be tough to break down with passing so the dribble is the best way through. That would be his forte!
- Alexander-Arnold – LIV – $9k
HOLY SHIT! The price makes sense. I get it. However, the first match against Everton was his second lowest cross total of the year (4) and only an assist saved his day that time. Believe it or not, this is not a must play. His floor is like 13-14 points though so he’s not a total fade.
- James – CHE – $5k
I love this kid’s game. He is a kid so consistency is his issue. He realistically could go for 3x at this price. Good for cash and GPP.
- Digne – EVE – $6k
Typically Digne at $6k is an auto-play but not in this fixture. There is certainly a chance I end up with both defenders in cash but my guess is I’ll go TAA and fade Digne. Pt/$ it’s very close.
- Robertson – LIV – $5.2k
Fade Digne to play Robo? He’s part of some semblance of a contrarian LIV stack but tough to justify the price in cash. GPP for sure. 7 assists thus far.
Others: van Dijk, Baldock, Schar, Rudiger, Rose
- Alisson – LIV – $5.5k
I’m assuming he’s back and the W/CS possibility is there.
- Henderson – SHU – $5k
Needs the win for upside but CS def possible.
- Pickford – EVE – $4k
Scares the hell out of me and a negative score is very in play but on teams with a mostly LIV fade plus the price puts him in play.
DFS NEW/SHU SD
So John Fleck is the most expensive player in this game. That should give you an idea of where we are with this game…
CASH — Henderson, Shelvey, Fleck/Norwood, Lundstram, D Rose
GPP – Both GKs, Saint-Maximin, Moussett, Almiron, Joelinton
