Duke’s Preview for Saturday’s EPL DFS slate…
Whew…we are nearing the end. It’s been a hell of a week. I’ve been 100% right and 100% wrong with a few slates somewhere in the middle. Let’s finish the week strong and get ready for next week’s action in the green.
I like to do that by the way. I look at a season as a whole but set incremental goals throughout the season to gauge where I am with my process. Do you guys do that? Should you? It’s helped me. One thing to keep in mind is slate and lineup process. Every slate is different. Some slates trend strictly towards floor. Others look for upside. Not every slate is the same.
Simply looking at your bankroll and seeing whether it’s up or down at the end of a week or month is not the proper way to analyze your ability and if you are getting better, getting worse or staying the same. As always, let’s work every day to get better!
To the desert…
I never thought I’d see the day where a David Moyes managed team would have 4 consecutive games finished with 5 or more total goals. I love this team. Obviously, the main story is Jesse Lingard and his resurgence, but everyone has lifted their game. They’ve had to because Declan Rice and Michail Antonio are both out. Masuaku is likely to miss and Aaron Cresswell is a late fitness test. Add that to Craig Dawson’s suspension and this will be a makeshift side for Moyes.
Chelsea have a relatively full squad to choose from but come off a very suspect performance against Brighton. We know Brighton are possession based as well so I wasn’t expecting the typcial 70% possession numbers from Chelsea but I was surprised to see Brighton out shoot Chelsea 11 to 7.
Tuchel is still trying to figure out what to do with the forward position. Honestly I think his best bet is to stick Giroud up there and just give the man a run of games but he’s giving Havertz a run. Long term I do think that is what is best for the team and the player but short term it’s not helping results.
I agree with the line simply due to the injury situation on the West Ham side of things. The bright spot recently has been Jarrod Bowen who has grabbed the forward position by the scruff of the neck and performed well. They’ll need a big game from him. We have a situation where one team dominates possession but doesn’t create many chances against a team who I constantly think will find some defensive stability and concede 2 or 3 goals. This should be a fun one from a fantasy perspective.
If you don’t love me at my Sheffield v Brighton breakdowns you can’t stay for the Liverpool v Man United breakdowns!
Sheffield have lost 6 straight and we need to attack this team like their opponents have. Arsenal shelled Sheffield. Wolves can’t beat anyone right now and won 1-0. The new manager is trying to get the best out of these players but the best just isn’t good enough. The system is still the same but Ben Osborn has been given more freedom to get involved. It’s nice to see but Osborn is just not the difference maker they need. Brewster is also getting a run out, likely at the direction of the board who will look to get some return on their 20m pound investment from the summer. This is about seeing out the season and trying to be competitive but I expect them to do quite a bit of chasing.
Brighton tend to have more success against teams that are unorganized. Sheffield are many things but they are not unorganized. They simply don’t have the talent to capitalize on that organization! These teams played to a 1-1 draw the first time around but as you can probably imagine, it was a fairly one sided game in terms of possession and chances. Staggeringly so considering the score…
But here was the key:
FINISH YOUR CHANCES!
- Gross – BHA – $9.3k – CASH AND GPP
- Highest projection among forwards.
- Bowen – WH – $8.2k – CASH AND GPP
- Pulisic – CHE – $8.9k – CASH AND GPP
- Welbeck – BHA – $6.6k
- Werner – CHE – $7.9k
- Hudson-Odoi – CHE – $8k
- Trossard – BHA – $7.8k
- McGoldrick – SHU – $5.7k
- Lingard – WH – $9.1k – CASH AND GPP
- MESSIIIII LINGARD!!
- Mount – CHE – $9.7k – CASH AND GPP
- I don’t anticipate Ziyech playing.
- Havertz – CHE – $5.8k
- Bissouma – BHA – $4.4k – CASH AND GPP
- Soucek – WH – $5.3k
- Osbourn – SHU – $4.9k – CASH AND GPP
- Noble – WH – $3.5k – CASH AND GPP
- Fornals – WH – $4.6k
- Norwood – SHU – $3.7k
- Coufal – WH – $5.9k – CASH AND GPP
- Johnson – WH – $4.7k – CASH AND GPP
- Chilwell – CHE – $6.8k – CASH AND GPP
- Veltman – BHA – $5k – CASH AND GPP
- James – CHE – $7.1k
- Stevens – SHU – $3.7k – CASH AND GPP
- Burn – BHA – $4.6k
- Dunk – BHA – $4.4k
- Sanchez – BHA – $5.5k – CASH AND GPP
- Ramsdale – SHU – $4k – CASH AND GPP
- Mendy – CHE – $5.4k
- Fabianski – WH – $4.2k
Obviously I would suspect ownership to trend towards Brighton and Chelsea with West Ham sprinkled in. I don’t know that you need to or want to try to get cute with Sheffield. They just aren’t fantasy producers.
